Two-to-one colour-response mapping and the presence of semantic conflict in the Stroop task

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2014
A series of recent studies have utilised the two-to-one mapping paradigm in the Stroop task. In this paradigm, the word red might be presented in blue when both red and blue share the same response key (same-response trials).

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

The simulation studies: a generalized class of Hartley-Ross type under non-response conditions

open access: yesMathematical and Computer Modelling of Dynamical Systems
In the context of sample surveys, it is only sometimes feasible to obtain complete and accurate information. Non-response represents a significant challenge in this context.

Non-Response and Measurement Error [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This chapter deals with some aspects of two sources of systematic error in surveys: non-response and measurement error. The quality of the obtained response is discussed first with a focus on non-response bias estimation and non-response bias reduction.

The Effect of College Curriculum on Earnings: Accounting for Non-Ignorable Non-Response Bias [PDF]

open access: yes
We link information on the current earnings of college graduates from many cohorts to their high-school records, their detailed college records and their demographics to infer the impact of college major on earnings. We develop an estimator to handle the

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Autonomic regulation constrains psychotherapeutic workability: a state-dependent translational model for psychotherapy and psychosomatics

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
Psychotherapy does not fail only because techniques are poorly chosen or alliances are weak; it may also fail because the patient’s momentary state does not support productive use of the task.

Forced response of shrouded blades with a coupled static/dynamic approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A coupled static-dynamic method is proposed and applied to bladed disks with shrouds, in order to calculate the nonlinear forced response in presence of friction damping in the frequency domain.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
