Performance of Double k-class Estimators for Coefficients in Linear Regression Models with Non Spherical Disturbances under Asymmetric Losses [PDF]
The risk of the family of feasible generalized double k-class estimators under LINEX loss function is derived in a linear regression model.

Coagulation Equations for Non-spherical Clusters
AbstractIn this work, we study the long time asymptotics of a coagulation model which describes the evolution of a system of particles characterized by their volume and surface area. The aggregation mechanism takes place in two stages: collision and fusion of particles. During the collision stage, the two particles merge at a contact point.

Radiative fluxes and forces in non-spherical winds [PDF]
AbstractFor the modelling of the radiation fields in stellar winds and the resulting forces new efficient algorithms are presented. In the first one, the radiative transfer equation for moving 3D media is solved analytically with the assumption that the source function is known, eg. from the solution of the NLTE rate equations.

ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

Simulation of Transitions between "Pasta" Phases in Dense Matter
Calculations of equilibrium properties of dense matter predict that at subnuclear densities nuclei can be rodlike or slablike. To investigate whether transitions between phases with non-spherical nuclei can occur during the collapse of a star, we perform

Locally Non-spherical Artin Groups
Let \(S\) be a finite nonempty set, and let \(M=(m_{a,b})_{a,b\in S}\) be a Coxeter matrix over \(S\). For \(m\) in \(\mathbb{N}\cup\{\infty\}\) and \(a,b\) in \(S\), let \(w(a,b;m)\) denote \((ab)^{{m\over 2}}\) if \(m\) is even, \((ab)^{{m-1\over 2}}a\) if \(m\) is odd, and \(1\) if \(m\) is \(\infty\).

ABSTRACT Background This study investigated how neighborhood‐level social determinants of health (SDOH), including redlining and neurological risk, interact to influence cognitive outcomes in children treated for brain tumors (CTBT). Methods A retrospective chart review of 161 CTBT aged 5–17 was conducted.

Jamming Transition In Non-Spherical Particle Systems: Pentagons Versus Disks [PDF]
We investigate the jamming transition in a quasi-2D granular material composed of regular pentagons or disks subjected to quasistatic uniaxial compression.

Control of Porosity in Parts Produced by a Direct Laser Melting Process
Recent advances in direct laser melting (DLM) have demonstrated its great potential for manufacturing three-dimensional porous metal parts. Various combinations of powder layering and processing parameters can be set to adjust the porous properties of ...

ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.
