Mechanisms and Predisposing Conditions for Statin‐Induced New‐Onset Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Paradox Relative to Their Pleiotropic Metabolic Effects

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 5, September 2026.
The primary function of statins is to inhibit cholesterol synthesis, which contributes to their antidiabetic effects. However, the majority of the diabetic effects of statins are due to inhibition of isoprenoid synthesis. Atorvastatin, simvastatin and rosuvastatin possess the most pronounced diabetogenic properties. In contrast, lovastatin, fluvastatin,

Serum Metabolomic Profiling for Acute Myocardial Infarction Based on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 9, September 2026.
1H NMR–based serum metabolomics was employed to identify AMI differential biomarkers and associated metabolic pathways. A diagnostic model evaluated via ROC analysis demonstrated robust performance of these biomarkers, thereby providing novel insights into the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying AMI. ABSTRACT Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a

Optical mapping reveals a higher level of large‐scale structural variants in a family with paternally transmitted myotonic dystrophy and independent Parkinson's disease

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 270, Issue 1, Page 83-97, September 2026.
Abstract Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a clinically challenging multisystem neuromuscular hereditary disorder, with generational increase in severity and earlier age at onset. It is caused by an unstable cytosine‐thymine‐guanine repeat expansion at the DMPK locus, accompanied by associated genetic and epigenetic modifications.
