Immunomodulation by non-thermal plasma

2022
Immunological control of disseminated viral infections and cancers of the hematopoietic system can be achieved through robust CD8+ T cell responses. However, immune dysfunctions in patients with these conditions can lead to control failures and disease chronicity.

On the relaxation of non-thermal plasmas

Journal of Plasma Physics, 1992
The collisional relaxation of various plasma distributions that are initially far removed from thermal equilibrium is investigated numerically using a Fokker–Planck code. It is shown that self-similar and kappa distributions do not remain self-similar or kappa, and that this is due to the velocity dependence of the effective collision frequency.

Non-thermal plasma for inactivated-vaccine preparation

Vaccine, 2016
Vaccines are of great importance in controlling the spread of infectious diseases in poultry farming. The safety and efficacy of vaccines are also essential. To explore the feasibility of a novel technology (non-thermal plasma) in inactivated vaccine preparation, an alternating current atmospheric pressure non-thermal plasma (NTP) jet with Ar/O2/N2 as ...

Non-thermal plasma for air and water remediation

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2016
A modular typed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) device is designed and tested for air and water remediation. The module is made of a number of DBD tubes that can be arranged in series or parallel. Each of the DBD tubes comprises inner electrode enclosed with dielectric barrier and arranged as such to provide a gap for the passage of gases.

Medically important biofilms and non-thermal plasma

World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2018
In recent decades, the non-thermal plasma, i.e. partially or completely ionized gas produced by electric discharges at ambient temperature, has become of interest for its microbiocidal properties with potential of use in the food industry or medicine. Recently, this interest focuses not only on the planktonic forms of microorganisms but also on their ...

Tars removal by non-thermal plasma and plasma catalysis

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2018
Abstract The gasification of a fuel or biomass is an industrial process that is utilized for synthesis gas (syngas) production. The syngas can be used to generate electricity, but after gasification it is often polluted with tars and various other pollutants.

The spectroscopy on non-thermal plasmas

Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1962
Abstract The investigation of plasmas by studying the emitted radiation is not a new subject but has long been the main observational technique of the astrophysicist. However, the recent development of controlled thermonuclear research presents problems to the spetroscopist which are very different from those generally treated by the astrophysicist ...

Non-Thermal Plasmas for VOCs Abatement

Plasma Chemistry and Plasma Processing, 2014
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are some of the most common air pollutants emitted from commercial and industrial processes; VOCs may also reduce indoor air quality. Increased environmental awareness, however, has resulted in stringent regulations controlling VOCs emission and has motivated researchers to develop various kinds of treatment.

Non-thermal approach in plasma aerodynamics

39th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2001
Comparison of theoretical and experimental results in the field of plasma aerodynamics is considered in this work. Three main groups of experimental results are analyzed here, namely results, obtained in: • Plasma- shock tube experiment, [1-7], • Plasma- aerodynamic experiment, [2, 4, 5, 8, 9], • Plasma- ballistic experiment, [2, 4, 5, 14], Importance ...

Characterization of a non thermal plasma torch

2009 IEEE Pulsed Power Conference, 2009
A non thermal He plasma needle was developed and characterized. The plasma was produced using the method presented in Anghels et al. [2], which utilizes a resonant transformer to produce the voltages necessary to breakdown the helium (He) working gas.
