Non-thermal plasma for air and water remediation
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2016A modular typed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) device is designed and tested for air and water remediation. The module is made of a number of DBD tubes that can be arranged in series or parallel. Each of the DBD tubes comprises inner electrode enclosed with dielectric barrier and arranged as such to provide a gap for the passage of gases.

Medically important biofilms and non-thermal plasma
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2018In recent decades, the non-thermal plasma, i.e. partially or completely ionized gas produced by electric discharges at ambient temperature, has become of interest for its microbiocidal properties with potential of use in the food industry or medicine. Recently, this interest focuses not only on the planktonic forms of microorganisms but also on their ...

Tars removal by non-thermal plasma and plasma catalysis
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2018Abstract The gasification of a fuel or biomass is an industrial process that is utilized for synthesis gas (syngas) production. The syngas can be used to generate electricity, but after gasification it is often polluted with tars and various other pollutants.

The spectroscopy on non-thermal plasmas
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1962Abstract The investigation of plasmas by studying the emitted radiation is not a new subject but has long been the main observational technique of the astrophysicist. However, the recent development of controlled thermonuclear research presents problems to the spetroscopist which are very different from those generally treated by the astrophysicist ...

Non-Thermal Plasmas for VOCs Abatement
Plasma Chemistry and Plasma Processing, 2014Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are some of the most common air pollutants emitted from commercial and industrial processes; VOCs may also reduce indoor air quality. Increased environmental awareness, however, has resulted in stringent regulations controlling VOCs emission and has motivated researchers to develop various kinds of treatment.

Non-thermal approach in plasma aerodynamics
39th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 2001Comparison of theoretical and experimental results in the field of plasma aerodynamics is considered in this work. Three main groups of experimental results are analyzed here, namely results, obtained in: • Plasma- shock tube experiment, [1-7], • Plasma- aerodynamic experiment, [2, 4, 5, 8, 9], • Plasma- ballistic experiment, [2, 4, 5, 14], Importance ...

Characterization of a non thermal plasma torch
2009 IEEE Pulsed Power Conference, 2009A non thermal He plasma needle was developed and characterized. The plasma was produced using the method presented in Anghels et al. [2], which utilizes a resonant transformer to produce the voltages necessary to breakdown the helium (He) working gas.

Non-thermal plasmas in and in contact with liquids
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2009During the last two decades atmospheric (or high) pressure non-thermal plasmas in and in contact with liquids have received a lot of attention in view of their considerable environmental and medical applications. The simultaneous generation of intense UV radiation, shock waves and active radicals makes these discharges particularly suitable for ...

Non-Thermal Atmospheric Pressure Plasma
2007Publisher Summary Plasma-chemical and plasma-processing systems are traditionally divided into two major categories: thermal and non-thermal ones. Non-thermal plasma offers high selectivity and energy efficiency of plasma-chemical reactions; it is able to operate effectively at low temperatures, in contact with fragile and delicate materials and does

Mechanism of NO reduction with non-thermal plasma.
Journal of environmental sciences (China), 2005Non-thermal plasma has been proved to be an effective and competitive technology for removing NO in flue gas since 1970. In this paper, the NO reduction mechanism of the non-thermal plasma reaction in NO/N2/O2 system was investigated using the method of spectral analysis and quantum chemistry.
