Occurrence of Multidrug‐Resistant Salmonella spp. in Raw Meat Retailed in Wet Markets in Chattogram City, Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Multidrug‐resistant Salmonella was detected in 13.5% of the raw meat samples in Chattogram, with resistance to multiple antibiotics and a high prevalence of the blaTEM gene. These findings highlight significant foodborne AMR risks and underscore the need for urgent One Health interventions to protect public health.

Comparative transcriptional profiling of the early host response to infection by typhoidal and non-typhoidal Salmonella serovars in human intestinal organoids.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2021
Salmonella enterica represents over 2500 serovars associated with a wide-ranging spectrum of disease; from self-limiting gastroenteritis to invasive infections caused by non-typhoidal serovars (NTS) and typhoidal serovars, respectively.

Invasive Non-typhoidal Salmonella (iNTS) Infections

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2022
Abstract Salmonella enterica invade the host via the intestinal tract. There are ~2 thousand distinct serovars of non-typhoidal Salmonella (NTS) that can cause gastroenteritis in normal hosts, but bacteremia is an uncommon complication of gastroenteritis except at the extremes of age (in Graham et al.

Length of hospital stay and associated treatment costs for patients with susceptible and antibiotic-resistant Salmonella infections: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesBMJ Open
Objectives The global disease burden of Salmonella infections in 2017 included 135 900 deaths caused by Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi and 77 500 deaths caused by invasive non-typhoidal Salmonella, with increasing antimicrobial resistance (AMR ...

Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy With New Methylene Blue and Its Combined Effect With Antibiotics Against MDR Acinetobacter baumannii

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
NMB‐mediated aPDT significantly inhibited MDR A. baumannii and enhanced the efficacy of tigecycline and colistin through synergistic or additive interactions. Increased ROS generation during aPDT and combination therapy may contribute to the observed antibacterial effects.

The prevalence and plasmid profile of non-typhoidal salmonellosis in children less than five years in Lagos metropolis, Nigeria

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2014
INTRODUCTION: non-typhoidal Salmonella is the causative agent of gastroenteritis, a food-borne and zoonotic infection which is a major cause of high morbidity and death among children under 5 years of age especially from resource poor settings like the ...

Species‐Specific Optimisation and Environmental Regulation of Biofilm Formation in Enterobacter cloacae: Inhibitory Role of Glucose in Biofilm Development

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
This study demonstrates that mild salinity stress (1%–2% NaCl) significantly enhances biofilm formation in Enterobacter cloacae. Using a standardised 96‐well microtiter plate assay, we optimised in vitro biofilm quantification and classification, providing a reproducible framework for studying environmental and clinical biofilm development mechanisms ...
