Nonuniform ACC Circuit Lower Bounds [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the ACM, 2011
The class ACC consists of circuit families with constant depth over unbounded fan-in AND, OR, NOT, and MOD m gates, where m > 1 is an arbitrary constant. We prove the following. ---NEXP, the class of languages accepted in nondeterministic exponential time, does not ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Visibility maps of realistic terrains have linear smoothed complexity

open access: yesJournal of Computational Geometry, 2010
We study the complexity of the visibility map of terrains whose triangles are fat, not too steep and have roughly the same size. It is known that the complexity of the visibility map of such a terrain with n triangles is Θ(n2) in the worst case. We prove

Hellinger Information Matrix and Hellinger Priors

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Hellinger information as a local characteristic of parametric distribution families was first introduced in 2011. It is related to the much older concept of the Hellinger distance between two points in a parametric set.

Non-uniform Bound on Normal Approximation of Latin Hypercube Sampling

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics Research, 2009
Loh (Loh, W.L, 1996b) established a Berry-Esseen type bound for $W$, the random variable based on a latin hypercube sampling, to the standard normal distribution. He used an inductive approach of Stein's method to give the rate of convergence $\frac{C_d}{\sqrt{n}}$ without the value of $C_d.$ In this article, we use a concentration inequality approach ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

A non-uniform Datko–Pazy theorem for bounded operator semigroups

open access: yesStudia Mathematica
We present a non-uniform analogue of the classical Datko-Pazy theorem. Our main result shows that an integrability condition imposed on orbits originating in a fractional domain of the generator (as opposed to all orbits) implies polynomial stability of a bounded $C_0$-semigroup.
