Electrical transport of 2D electrons in non-uniform magnetic fields

We present a review of some of our recent experimental work on hybrid ferromagnet/semiconductor devices in which 2D electrons propagate through magnetic barriers, periodic magnetic modulations, and random magnetic fields.

Bubble Motion in Transformer Oil under Non-Uniform Electric Fields

We investigate the bubble motion in transformer oil under a typical non-uniform electric field. Based on the principle of virtual work, an analytical equation is derived for the electric force putting on the bubbles. The bubble's visualized motion graphics are then obtained by using the finite-element method, which utilizes Comsol Multiphysics software.

Flute instability in the presence of non-uniform electric fields

A general equation describing the flute instability in a low-β plasma, in the presence of a non-uniform electric field perpendicular to the magnetic field, is derived from guiding centre equations. The equations obtained by Rosenbluth and Simon and by Damm et al. correspond to two different limiting cases of this more general equation.
