Determining motion fields under non-uniform illumination
Pattern Recognition Letters, 1995Abstract Two realistic methods based on a generalized conservation equation of image brightness are proposed for the accurate determination of motion fields under non-uniform illumination. The conservation equation includes spatial and temporal derivatives of image brightness, a motion vector and a rate of brightness generation.

Dielectric polarization in non-uniform fields
Journal of Molecular Structure, 1982Abstract A fluid system containing non-polarizable molecules with a general charge distribution interacting with a static non-uniform field is investigated. The invariance of the dielectric polarization to the arbitrary choice of molecular origin is demonstrated.

NMR Images Produced in a Substantially Non‐Uniform Field
Australasian Radiology, 1985SUMMARYNMR images of distinct sections through a three‐dimensional phantom were obtained using steady magnetic fields much less uniform than those generally considered necessary for NMR imaging, but whose substantial gradient served to define the slices to be imaged.

Effects of Non-Uniform Crosswind Fields on Scintillometry Measurements
Boundary-Layer Meteorology, 2011The effects of a non-uniform wind field along the path of a scintillometer are investigated. Theoretical spectra are calculated for a range of scenarios where the crosswind varies in space or time and compared to the ‘ideal’ spectrum based on a constant uniform crosswind.

Neocognitron with Non-uniform Receptive Fields
1993The neocognitron is a hierarchical neural network model, which is capable of deformation-resistant pattern recognition. In the conventional neocognitron, each cell has a uniform receptive field. In other words, all parts within a receptive field have the same characteristics.

The implications of non-uniformity in fields-of-view of commonly used field spectroradiometers
2007 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2007Accurately determining the field-of-view (FOV) is a basic requirement in photogrammetry and imaging spectroscopy but has rarely been considered in detail in field spectroscopy where the specifications for different spectroradiometers generally lack clarity or detail.

Criterion for spark-breakdown in non-uniform fields
Journal of Applied Physics, 2014We develop a criterion for spark-breakdown in non-uniform field geometries with positive polarity and small electrode separations so that breakdown evolves without the formation of a leader. We arrive at the spark-breakdown criterion by framing it in terms of gain and instability conditions, whose relative importance is established from an analysis of ...

Optoelectronic tweezers with a non-uniform background field
Applied Physics Letters, 2020An optoelectronic tweezers (OETs) system employing a non-uniform background electric field is presented. In addition to optically induced electrodes, physical electrodes are incorporated into the design. The geometries of the physical electrodes are selected to create a background field with gradients along a specific axis.

Magnetic resonance imaging with non-uniform fields
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 1986Various methods have been used to recover NMR images with non-uniform magnetic fields. The authors describe a new method which recovers the image, and an exact solution for the spatially dependent magnetic inhomogeneities from data obtained from commonly used direct Fourier transform pulse-gradient sequences, at a negligible cost of extra computation.
