Non-Uniform Gravitational Fields and Clock Paradoxes
American Journal of Physics, 1973Two experiments which can be performed in arbitrarily small volumes of space and without reference to external fixed objects to determine the geometry of a satellite orbit in a spherically symmetric gravitational field are described. They are of interest in explaining the aging asymmetry which occurs in a recently published variation of the ...

Effect of non-uniform temperature field in viscosity measurement
Journal of Visualization, 2015In viscosity measurement, temperature control is very important. In this research, the effects of temperature distribution in viscosity measurement are investigated. Vibrational viscometers are preferred in experiments over other types of viscometers due to their low cost, easy to use and effective continuous viscosity measurement capability.

Droplet Dynamics in a Non-uniform Flow Field
Combustion Science and Technology, 1991Abstract The present paper describes research to determine the lift and drag forces on a single heptane droplet in a non-uniform flow field over a range of Reynolds numbers of 1-30. Experiments are described for droplels (90-320μm) entering a jet of air (≈ 1 m/s) and fallowing unsteady curvilinear trajectories (for which few experimental studies and no

Motion of a sphere in non-uniform electrostatic field
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2000A mathematical expression for the electric force acting on a sphere placed in a non-uniform electrostatic field is derived taking into account the conductivity and permittivity of both the sphere and the medium, as well as the initial velocity and charge of the spherical particle. The expression demonstrates a time-dependent variation of the force in a

Dislocation distributions in non-uniform stress fields
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 1990Abstract The effect of non-uniform stress fields on the dislocation distributions have been examined for four possible cases: A, a group of dislocations piled up at an immovable obstacle; B, a group of dislocations piled up at a locked dislocation; C, a group of dislocations emitted from a source; and D, free expansion of a group of dislocations ...

Plasmons in spatially non-uniform magnetic fields
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1998Abstract A non-planar two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) has been realised by using molecular beam epitaxy to grow a high mobility heterostructure on a (1 0 0) n+-GaAs layer selectively etched to create a two-dimensional array of cavities through the n+-GaAs which are bounded by higher-index facets.

On a chain suspended in a non-uniform gravitational field
Bulletin géodésique, 1974It is possible to simply describe the curve followed by a chain suspended in a non-uniform gravitational field. Parallel discussions are given using the two theories of gravitation, Newtonian and general relativistic.

The Townsend coefficient in non-uniform electric fields
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1991A one-dimensional model of electron multiplication in a gas is considered by using a system of equations of moments. An approximate expression for the first Townsend ionization coefficient is derived. It is shown that for a linearly decreasing electric field, the multiplication cannot be characterized by a local transport coefficient, such as Townsend ...

Electron Heating by Non-Uniform Electric Field
1974Current-voltage characteristics of asymmetrically necked samples cut from uniform single crystal of germanium become asymmetric at high electric fields. Current instabilities due to impact ionization are observed. A dc electromotive force arises in such samples in a large microwave field.
