Cost‐effectiveness analysis comparing real‐time continuous glucose monitoring with self‐monitoring of blood glucose for patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin in Japan

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Real‐time continuous glucose monitoring (rt‐CGM) systems are associated with reductions in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and hypoglycemic events compared with self‐monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG). This analysis aimed to assess the cost‐effectiveness of rt‐CGM compared with SMBG in the management of people with T2D who require ...

A Markov model of Diabetic Retinopathy Progression for the Economic Evaluation of a novel DR prognostic device, CHERE Working Paper 2007/14 [PDF]

open access: yes
The initial diagnosis of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is often in the advance stages of the condition, as patients are only promoted for an examination when sight has been affected.

[Non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy and red blood cell aggregation].

open access: yesWiadomosci lekarskie (Warsaw, Poland : 1960), 2005
The pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy is not clear, but it is generally agreed, that in addition to vascular components hemorheological disturbances can play a role in the impairment of microvascular flow. The aim of this study was to correlate the severity of retinopathy in diabetic patients with red blood aggregation and some parameters of ...

Urinary extracellular vesicle miRNA signature reflects pancreatic islet stress in type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Urinary ECV miRNAs show a distinct dysregulation signature in T2D with strong diagnostic performance. This signature mirrors molecular changes across pancreatic islets, blood, liver, and adipose tissue, with the strongest concordance in islets, linking it to β‐cell stress. Overall, they represent a non‐invasive, mechanistically informative biomarker of

Plantar fascia thickness in type 1 diabetes mellitus patients: Clinical associations and metabolic correlates

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Ultrasound‐measured plantar fascia thickness is associated with microvascular complications and glycemic control in individuals with type 1 diabetes, suggesting PFT as a potential non‐invasive tool for clinical assessment. In addition, improved thickness values were observed in patients using automated insulin delivery systems.

Serum nonmercaptalbumin to total albumin ratio and bilirubin predict ADL decline in older adults with type 2 diabetes

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
In a longitudinal cohort of older adults with type 2 diabetes, incident ADL disability was evaluated. Higher HNA%, lower serum bilirubin, and older age independently predicted the risk of disability. Their combined assessment may offer clinically useful tools for identifying individuals at elevated risk of functional deterioration.

Treatment effects of captopril on non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

open access: yesChinese medical journal, 2012
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most common complications of diabetes. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor is thought to play an important role in preventing and treating retinal diseases in animal models of DR. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI, captopril) in the ...
