The Impact of Chronic Kidney Disease on In‐Hospital Outcomes in Patients With Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesCanadian Respiratory Journal, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with high mortality rates in critically ill patients. Renopulmonary interplay remains crucial in contributing to the outcomes in patients with ARDS. While the role of acute kidney injury has been widely explored in these patients, there remains an unmet need in the literature about the

Severe Necrotizing Community‐Acquired Pneumonia and Bilateral Empyema in an Immunocompetent Patient due to Fusobacterium necrophorum

open access: yesCase Reports in Pulmonology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Necrotizing pneumonia and empyema caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum are uncommon. The classical presentation of Lemierre′s syndrome, characterized by pharyngotonsillitis and internal jugular vein thrombosis, is not always observed, and incomplete and atypical variants can cause diagnostic uncertainty and delay in treatment.

Pulmonary Peak Flow Assessment: An Easy Tool for Cardiac Output Estimation in Hemodynamically Stable Neonates

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pediatrics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Objectives Right ventricular output (RVO) assessment can estimate systemic blood flow (SBF) in neonates but requires advanced echocardiography expertise. Pulmonary peak flow (PPF) could be an easier surrogate for RVO. This study is aimed at evaluating the correlation between RVO and PPF in neonates and assessing their intraobserver variability ...
