Effect of wavelength on propagation of high-power femtosecond laser pulses in diamond
: Numerical modeling of the propagation of high-power femtosecond laser beams in a diamond crystal in the self-focusing mode is carried out. The wavelength of the modeled beams is varied in a wide range (400 nm, 532 nm, 800 nm, and 1064 nm), which ...

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...
