Nonlinear geostrophic adjustment in the presence of a boundary [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2002
The process of nonlinear geostrophic adjustment in the presence of a boundary (i.e. in a half-plane bounded by a rigid wall) is examined in the framework of a rotating shallow water model, using an asymptotic multiple-time-scale theory based on the assumed smallness of the Rossby number ε.

Reduced Muscular Carnosine in Proximal Myotonic Myopathy—A Pilot 1H‐MRS Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Myotonic dystrophy type 2 (proximal myotonic myopathy, PROMM) is a progressive multisystem disorder with muscular symptoms (proximal weakness, pain, myotonia) and systemic manifestations such as diabetes mellitus, cataracts, and cardiac arrhythmias.

Linear combination of forecasts with numerical adjustment via MINIMAX non-linear programming

open access: yesGEPROS: Gestão da Produção, Operações e Sistemas, 2016
This paper proposes a linear combination of forecasts obtained from three forecasting methods (namely, ARIMA, Exponential Smoothing and Artificial Neural Networks) whose adaptive weights are determined via a multi-objective non-linear programming ...

Nonlinear Rossby adjustment in a channel: beyond Kelvin waves [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 1989
Nonlinear advective adjustment of a discontinuity in free-surface height under gravity and rotation is considered, using the method of contour dynamics. After linear wave-adjustment has set up an interior jet and boundary currents in a wide ([Gt ] one Rossby radius) channel, fluid surges down-channel on both walls, rather than only that wall ...

Discovery and Targeted Proteomic Studies Reveal Striatal Markers Validated for Huntington's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Clinical trials for Huntington's disease (HD) enrolling persons before clinical motor diagnosis (CMD) lack validated biomarkers. This study aimed to conduct an unbiased discovery analysis and a targeted examination of proteomic biomarkers scrutinized by clinical validation. Methods Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from PREDICT‐HD and

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms of Glioma Recurrence: A Study Integrating Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioma recurrence severely impacts patient prognosis, with current treatments showing limited efficacy. Traditional methods struggle to analyze recurrence mechanisms due to challenges in assessing tumor heterogeneity, spatial dynamics, and gene networks.

AN ADAPTIVE DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION ALGORITHM WITH A BOUND ADJUSTMENT STRATEGY FOR SOLVING NONLINEAR PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION PROBLEMS

open access: yesInformatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska
Real-world parameter identification problems require determining the bounds that cover the unknown solutions. This paper presents an adaptive differential evolution algorithm with a bound adjustment strategy (ADEBAS) for solving nonlinear parameter ...

Association of CDKN2A/B Homozygous Deletion and Extent of Resection With Survival of Patients With WHO CNS5 Grade 4 Astrocytoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives WHO grade 4 astrocytomas are associated with poor prognosis, and their prognostic factors remain controversial. This study aimed to identify the prognostic factors and develop a management algorithm for these patients. Methods This study retrospectively included 151 CNS5 adult grade 4 astrocytomas from two medical centers.

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.
