Nonsymmetrical, Nonlinear Aerospace Alternators on Nonlinear Loads

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1975
A two-dimensional numerical analysis of the cross section of a homopolar inductor alternator supplying a rectifier load is developed. Besides the effects of the nonlinearities of the magnetic materials, the eddy currents induced in the rotor by the nonlinear load are considered.

An Alternative Approach to Nonlinear Instabilities in Hydrodynamics

Studies in Applied Mathematics, 1985
The conventional theoretical methods used in the study of nonlinear hydrodynamic instabilities are known to suffer from severe amplitude limitations. In this paper a modified asymptotic theory is developed which is more general and less restrictive. Such an approach may be relevant to many nonlinear instability phenomena.

Nonlinear alternative theorems and nondifferentiable programming

Zeitschrift für Operations Research, 1984
The paper contains two main conclusions. In the first place there is a nonlinear Farkas-type theorem in which the objective function f(x): \(X\to {\mathbb{R}}\), \(f(0)=0\), is convex and continuous at 0 and the constraint g(x): \(X\to Y\) is S-sublinear, weakly \(S^*\)-lower semicontinuous with respect to a closed convex cone \(S\subset Y\).

On Schwarz Alternating Methods for Nonlinear Elliptic PDEs

SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing, 1999
The author considers several Schwarz alternating method for solving nonlinear elliptic problems. It is shown that these methods with two overlapping subdomains can be embedded in the framework of Banach and Schauder fixed point methods or the theory of global inversion.

An alternative model of a nonlinear business cycle

International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology, 2000
The purpose of this paper is to develop a piecewise linear model to understand complex dynamics that arise out of sophisticated nonlinear macrodynamic models developed by Hicks and Goodwin. This piecewise analogue has several advantages: (i) it is a natural extension of a linear accelerator; (ii) it exhibits all the qualitative results of Goodwin's ...

An alternator-voltage regulator utilizing a nonlinear circuit

Electrical Engineering, 1937
ALTHOUGH several different types of alternator-voltage regulators are in successful operation at present, the purpose of this paper is to describe a regulator which is believed to have several outstanding advantages over any of the present types. The inherent limitations of the various types of moving-contact regulators are well known, and a perusal of

An Alternative Approach for Oscillatory Behaviour Control in a Nonlinear Bioprocess

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2013
Abstract The nonlinear nature of bioprocesses often leads to the occurrence of the self-sustained oscillations of the biomass concentration in continuous flow bioreactors. For some practical reasons, sometimes it is necessary to control the oscillatory behaviour, which is usually achieved by changing the dilution rate, but this is not always the best

The unsteady model

European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1981
In this paper an alternative approach to nonlinear pharmacokinetics modelling has been developed from first principles. This "Unsteady Model" is able to describe the situation whereby one or more independent drugs and their metabolites compete for free attachment sites in liver, tissue, red blood cells etc.
