Nonlinear Fractional q-Difference Equation with Fractional Hadamard and Quantum Integral Nonlocal Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2020
In this paper, we establish existence and uniqueness results for a boundary value problem consisting by a nonlinear fractional q-difference equation subject to a new type of boundary condition, combining the fractional Hadamard and quantum integrals. Our

Single-photon nonlinear optics with Kerr-type nanostructured materials

open access: yes, 2012
We employ a quantum theory of the nonlinear optical response from an actual solid-state material possessing an intrinsic bulk contribution to the third-order nonlinear susceptibility (Kerr-type nonlinearity), which can be arbitrarily nanostructured to ...

Positive Solutions for System of Nonlinear Fractional Differential Equations in Two Dimensions with Delay

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2010
We investigate the existence and uniqueness of positive solution for system of nonlinear fractional differential equations in two dimensions with delay. Our analysis relies on a nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder type and Krasnoselskii's fixed point

Lagrangian Formalism in Perturbed Nonlinear Klein-Gordon Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We develop an alternative approach to study the effect of the generic perturbation (in addition to explicitly considering the loss term) in the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations. By a change of the variables that cancel the dissipation term we are able to

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Capacity estimates for optical transmission based on the nonlinear Fourier transform

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Optical fibres enable high-speed communication over long distances, but traditional systems are limited by nonlinear optical effects. Here, the authors quantify the increase in capacity that is made possible by using an alternative approach that uses a ...

A comparative study of several control techniques applied to a boost converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper a comparison among three control strategies is presented, with application to a boost DC-DC converter. The control strategies are developed on the switched boost circuit model and validated on the nonlinear model by use of simulations.

Nonlinear terahertz devices utilizing semiconducting plasmonic metamaterials

open access: yes, 2015
The development of responsive metamaterials has enabled the realization of compact tunable photonic devices capable of manipulating the amplitude, polarization, wave vector, and frequency of light. Integration of semiconductors into the active regions of

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.
