Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Nonlinear Impulsive Multi-Order Caputo-Type Generalized Fractional Differential Equations with Infinite Delay

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
We establish sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions for a nonlinear impulsive multi-order Caputo-type generalized fractional differential equation with infinite delay and nonlocal generalized integro-initial value conditions.

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Existence and Stability Results for a Fractional Order Differential Equation with Non-Conjugate Riemann-Stieltjes Integro-Multipoint Boundary Conditions

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
We discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions for a Caputo-type fractional order boundary value problem equipped with non-conjugate Riemann-Stieltjes integro-multipoint boundary conditions on an arbitrary domain.

Linearized analysis versus optimization-based nonlinear analysis for nonlinear systems

open access: yes2009 American Control Conference, 2009
For autonomous nonlinear systems stability and input-output properties in small enough (infinitesimally small) neighborhoods of (linearly) asymptotically stable equilibrium points can be inferred from the properties of the linearized dynamics. On the other hand, generalizations of the S-procedure and sum-of-squares programming promise a framework ...
