Analysis of Higher-Order Bézier Curves for Approximation of the Static Magnetic Properties of NO Electrical Steels

open access: yesMathematics
Adequate mathematical description of magnetization curves is indispensable in engineering. The accuracy of the description has a significant impact on the design of electric machines and devices.

Piecewise nonlinear approximation for non-smooth functions

open access: yesResults in Applied Mathematics
Piecewise affine or linear approximation has garnered significant attention as a technique for approximating piecewise-smooth functions. In this study, we propose a novel approach: piecewise non-linear approximation based on rational approximation, aimed

On nonuniqueness in nonlinear L2-approximation

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1987
AbstractIt is shown that, under weak assumptions, nonlinear L2-approximation problems generally have unbounded numbers of local best approximations. This includes the rational and the exponential families of approximating functions. In addition, for a certain class of approximating families, we construct functions with three global best approximations.
