This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The coefficient of dynamism of a nonlinear oscillator
Nonlinear oscillations caused by the initial deviation of the oscillator from the equilibrium position or the initial velocity given to it in this position are considered. It is assumed that the restoring force is proportional to the sine of the displacement of the oscillatory system. There are two variants of the sine: trigonometric and hyperbolic. In

This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Methodical inaccuracy of the Z-scan method for few-cycle terahertz pulses
Modern sources of THz radiation generate high-intensity pulses allowing to observe nonlinear effects in this spectral range. To describe many nonlinear effects theoretically, it is necessary to know the nonlinear refractive index coefficient of optical ...

Influence of the accommodation coefficient on nonlinear bubble oscillations [PDF]
This paper numerically investigates the effect of mass transfer processes on spherical single bubble dynamics using the Hertz–Langmuir–Knudsen approximation for the mass flux across the interface. Bubble behavior, with and without mass transfer, is studied for different values of pressure wave amplitude and frequency, as well as initial bubble radius ...
