A study of the problem of nonlinear filtrational consolidation
Journal of Mathematical Sciences, 1995We study a rather general problem of nonlinear filtrational consolidation. We give the definition of a weak solution and show that it exists and is unique under certain conditions. We establish a connection between weak and classical solutions of the above problem.

Oedometer Consolidation Test Analysis by Nonlinear Regression
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 2008Abstract A numerical method based on least squares nonlinear regression for the evaluation of the consolidation parameters of soils from consolidation tests is presented. A model which includes the initial compression, the primary consolidation, and the secondary compression is used in the regression.

Nonlinear and elasto-plasticity consolidation models of unsaturated soil and applications
Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2001The non-linear constitutive model suggested by the authors and the Alonso's elasto-plasticity model of unsaturated soil modified by the authors are introduced into the consolidation theory of unsaturated soil proposed by CHEN Zheng-han, and the non-linear and the elasto-plasticity consolidation models of unsaturated soil are obtained.

Solution of some nonlinear one‐dimensional consolidation problems
Communications in Applied Numerical Methods, 1987AbstractThe analysis of nonlinear one‐dimensional consolidation of clay is considered. An algorithm is presented which allows nonlinear clay parameters to be accommodated in the prediction of both the magnitude and the rate of consolidation. The method is based on the finite element solution of Biot's coupled consolidation problem, together with a ...

Nonlinear consolidation in randomly heterogeneous highly compressible aquitards
Hydrogeology Journal, 2017Severe land subsidence due to groundwater extraction may occur in multiaquifer systems where highly compressible aquitards are present. The highly compressible nature of the aquitards leads to nonlinear consolidation where the groundwater flow parameters are stress-dependent. The case is further complicated by the heterogeneity of the hydrogeologic and

Consolidation of a nonlinear poroelastic layer in finite deformations
1996Summary: The effects of nonlinear material behaviour and finite deformation in the analysis of the consolidation of a layer of a porous medium subjected to a step load are addressed within the framework of nonlinear poroelasticity. The validity of Terzaghi's effective stress concept is confirmed for a nonlinear material behaviour under finite ...

Variation of hydraulic gradient in nonlinear finite strain consolidation
Journal of Central South University, 2014In the research field of ground water, hydraulic gradient is studied for decades. In the consolidation field, hydraulic gradient is yet to be investigated as an important hydraulic variable. So, the variation of hydraulic gradient in nonlinear finite strain consolidation was focused on in this work. Based on lab tests, the nonlinear compressibility and

Nonlinear Problems During Consolidation Process
2001The geometrical nonlinear problems oriented at geotechnical problems are presented herein. Lagrangian, Eulerian and updated Lagrangian procedures are discussed. The description of a two phase medium i.e. soil skeleton and water is formulated. Both geometrical and material nonlinearites for the fully coupled problem are considered.
