Symmetry selective third harmonic generation from plasmonic metacrystals
Nonlinear processes are often governed by selection rules imposed by the symmetries of the molecular configurations. The most well-known examples include the role of mirror symmetry breaking for the generation of even harmonics, and the selection rule ...

Thermo-Mechanical Characterization of the Orthorhombic Nonlinear Optical Crystal PbGa2GeSe6
Linear thermal expansion in the 70–350 K range and nanohardness and Young’s modulus at room temperature are measured for the newly developed quaternary nonlinear optical crystal PbGa2GeSe6 applicable in the mid-IR part of the spectrum (3–25 µm).

Effect of NaCl on the properties of sulphamic acid single crystals
Single crystals of pure and NaCl doped sulphamic acid (SA) were grown by slow evaporation method at room temperature. The lattice parameters and structure were determined by using single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analyses.

Self-induced transparency and giant nonlinearity in doped photonic crystals
Photonic crystals doped with resonant atoms allow for uniquely advantageous nonlinear modes of optical propagation: (a) Self-induced transparency (SIT) solitons and multi-dimensional localized "bullets" propagating at photonic band gap frequencies. These

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Self-trapping of light and nonlinear localized modes in 2D photonic crystals and waveguides [PDF]
We overview our recent results on the nonlinear localized modes in two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystals and photonic-crystal waveguides. Employing the technique based on the Green function, we describe the existence domains for nonlinear guided modes ...

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...
