Nonlinear interferometer for tailoring the frequency spectrum of bright squeezed vacuum

open access: yes, 2015
We propose a method for tailoring the frequency spectrum of bright squeezed vacuum by generating it in a nonlinear interferometer, consisting of two down-converting nonlinear crystals separated by a dispersive medium. Due to a faster dispersive spreading

Gap solitons in spatiotemporal photonic crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We generalize the concept of nonlinear periodic structures to systems that show arbitrary spacetime variations of the refractive index. Nonlinear pulse propagation through these spatiotemporal photonic crystals can be described, for shallow nonstationary

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

Spectroscopy of Yb3+-doped multicomponent alkaline earth metal fluorides for ultrafast lasers [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The optical spectroscopy of an ytterbium-doped multicomponent alkaline earth metal fluoride crystal Yb3+,Y3+:(Ca,Sr)F2 was studied with the goal of developing novel gain media for ultrafast mode-locked oscillators.

Space-Selective Control of Functional Crystals by Femtosecond Laser: A Comparison between SrO-TiO2-SiO2 and Li2O-Nb2O5-SiO2 Glasses

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
We report on space-selective crystallization of congruent and polar Sr2TiSi2O8 crystals in a stoichiometric SrO-TiO2-SiO2 glass induced by (1030 nm, 300 fs) femtosecond laser irradiation.

Dynamical localization of gap-solitons by time periodic forces

open access: yes, 2009
The phenomenon of dynamical localization of matter wave solitons in optical lattices is first demonstrated and the conditions for its existence are discussed.

Parametric Solitons in Nonlinear Photonic Crystals [PDF]

open access: yesLEOS 2007 - IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2007
We present theoretical and experimental investigations on the soliton dynamics associated to multiple second harmonic generation resonances in two-dimensional nonlinear photonic crystals, highlighting a wealth of new possibilities for soliton management in such structures.

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Photoconduction and photocontrolled collective effects in the Peierls conductor TaS$_3$

open access: yes, 2004
Light illumination of thin crystals of CDW conductor TaS$_3$ is found to result in dramatic changes of both linear ($G$) and nonlinear conduction. The increase of $G$ is accompanied by suppression of the collective conduction, growth of the threshold ...
