AGORA: Adaptive Generation of Orthogonal Rational Approximations for Frequency‐Response Data

open access: yesInternational Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications, EarlyView.
This paper introduces the adaptive generation of orthogonal rational approximations (AGORA) method for rational function approximation of measured or simulated microwave network parameters. AGORA allows estimating the model order for a given error tolerance and does not require any initial estimates or adjustment of hyperparameters. ABSTRACT This paper

Seismic performance of concrete tunnel–sand–pile interaction by the shake table test

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This research presents the square root sum of squares response of displacements and tunnel moments under the Kobe and Loma Prieta seismic excitations with a peak ground acceleration of 0.05 g for various dry relative densities of local sand in Bangladesh.

Describing Functions For Effective Stiffness and Effective Damping of Hystersis Structures

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Structural Engineering, 2004
For a hysteresis structure with energy dissipation devices, the force-displacement relation is nonlinear such that it is very difficult to evaluate the actual damping and stiffness coefficients, even if the forcedisplacement characteristic is simply ...

A review of multiscale numerical modeling of rock mechanics and rock engineering

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Multiscale numerical methods of rock mechanics and rock engineering are reviewed, and the review results show that more attention should be paid to the development of an advanced constitutive model in addition to numerical techniques themselves. Abstract Rock is geometrically and mechanically multiscale in nature, and the traditional phenomenological ...

Blasting effects of cross‐fault deep‐buried excavation on adjacent existing tunnel stability

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on the theoretical analysis of cylindrical wave propagation in a deep rock mass in the fault with a filling layer, the calculation method of peak particle velocity caused by wave propagation in the existing tunnel is established. The viscoelastic characteristics of a rock mass are examined in the analysis.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of Entangled Melts at High Rates: Identifying Entanglement Lockup Mechanism Leading to True Strain Hardening

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 44, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Molecular dynamics simulations are used to indicate how the entanglement lockup manifests in the late stage of fast Rouse‐Weissnberg number (WiR>>1) uniaxial melt stretching of entangled polymer melts. At high strains, chain tension can build up, peaking at the middle of the chain, through accumulated interchain interactions, as if there is a tug‐of ...
