Stability of a nonlinear oscillator with random damping [PDF]
A noisy damping parameter in the equation of motion of a nonlinear oscillator renders the fixed point of the system unstable when the amplitude of the noise is sufficiently large. However, the stability diagram of the system can not be predicted from the analysis of the moments of the linearized equation.

A Nonlinear Damped Metamaterial: Wideband Attenuation with Nonlinear Bandgap and Modal Dissipation [PDF]
In this paper, we incorporate the effect of nonlinear damping with the concept of locally resonant metamaterials to enable vibration attenuation beyond the conventional bandgap range. The proposed design combines a linear host cantilever beam and periodically distributed inertia amplifiers as nonlinear local resonators.

This work aims to address the P-bifurcation of a stochastic nonlinear system with fractional damping driven by Gaussian white noise. Based on a stochastic averaging method, a fractional damping stochastic nonlinear equation has been studied. Furthermore,

Braginskii magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) provides a more accurate description of many plasma environments than classical MHD since it actively treats the stress tensor using a closure derived from physical principles.

Nonlinear roll damping of a barge with and without liquid cargo in spherical tanks
Damping plays a significant role on the maximum amplitude of a vessel's roll motion, in particular near the resonant frequency. It is a common practice to predict roll damping using a linear radiation–diffraction code and add that to a linearized viscous

On a Nonlinear Degenerate Evolution Equation with Nonlinear Boundary Damping [PDF]
This paper deals essentially with a nonlinear degenerate evolution equation of the formKu″-Δu+∑j=1nbj∂u′/∂xj+uσu=0supplemented with nonlinear boundary conditions of Neumann type given by∂u/∂ν+h·, u′=0. Under suitable conditions the existence and uniqueness of solutions are shown and that the boundary damping produces a uniform global stability of the ...
