Nonlinear difference equations

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1982
IN THE NUMERICAL integration of nonlinear differential equations it is often possible to get ‘phantom solutions’ which are qualitatively quite different from the true solutions. Whether the behaviour of a numerical solution is a true reflection of a nonlinear phenomenon being modelled by the differential equation, or whether it is a mere consequence of

Nonlinear Difference Equations

2000
In this Chapter we shall outline those elements of the theory of timeinvariant nonlinear difference equations which will be used in the book. In Section 3.1 we shall investigate the existence and stability of fixed points, extending theorems for linear systems to nonlinear ones. In Section 3.2 we shall study limit cycles.

Conserved Quantities of a Class of Nonlinear Difference-Difference Equations

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1995
Summary: Higher-order conserved quantities of a class of nonlinear difference-difference equations which are related to the discrete-time Toda equation are obtained using the Miura transformations.

On Nonlinear Hahn Difference Equations with Maxima

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems
This paper investigates the first- and second-order nonlinear Hahn difference equations with maxima. The existence and uniqueness of the solutions are obtained based on the theorem of step-by-step contraction. Then, a comparison theorem is given by constructing successive approximation sequences with the weakly Picard operator.

Quantum difference nonlinear Schrdinger equation

Letters in Mathematical Physics, 1981
The quantum inverse problem method is applied to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation on a one-dimensional chain. The commutation relations of field operators are noncanonical. The generating functional of quantum integrals of the motion, creation and annihilation operators of the eigenstates are constructed.

Nonlinear Partial Difference Equations. V. Nonlinear Equations Reducible to Linear Equations

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1979
Difference analogues of the nonlinear partial differential equations that can be transformed into the linear equations are obtained, and exact solutions to the difference equations are presented. The nonlinear differential equations concerned are Liouville's equation, Two-Wave interaction, the Riccati equation and the Burgers equation.

Positive nonlinear difference equations

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1997
The author considers the difference equation \( u(t+ n)= f_t (u(t),\dots, u(t+ n- 1)), t \in N= \{ 0, 1, 2,\dots \},\) where \(f_t: R_+^n \to R_+\) for all \(t \in N,\) \(R_+^n= \{ x= (x_1,\dots, x_n): x_i \in R_+ \}\) and \(u(i) \in R_+\) for \(0 \leq i \leq n- 1.\) Various results concerning the asymptotic behavior of solutions of equation (1) and ...
