Gravitational-wave implications for structure formation: A second-order approach
Gravitational waves are propagating undulations in the spacetime fabric, which interact very weakly with their environment. In cosmology, gravitational-wave distortions are produced by most of the inflationary scenarios and their anticipated detection ...

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Nonlinear Distortions in Electroacoustic Devices
The task of electroacoustic devices is a transmission of audio signals. The transmitted signal should be distorted as little as possible. Nonlinear distortions are the distortions depending on signal level. The types of nonlinear distortions as well as

We experimentally demonstrate the simultaneous compensation of both dispersion and nonlinear effects in a 100 km optical fiber link using optical phase conjugation of a 21 GB aud QPSK and 16QAM signal with nonlinear SOAs. Error-free performance is

New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Analysis and optimization of multistage amplifier structures
The method for compensation of 2-nd and 3-rd order nonlinear distortions in multistage amplifiers is considered. It is shown, that equalization of nonlinear components in multistage structures is determined by schemes of one-from-last and last cascades ...

Distortion-Free Nonlinear Dimensionality Reduction [PDF]
Nonlinear Dimensionality Reduction is an important issue in many machine learning areas where essentially low-dimensional data is nonlinearly embedded in some high-dimensional space. In this paper, we show that the existing Laplacian Eigenmaps method suffers from the distortion problem, and propose a new distortion-free dimensionality reduction method ...

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
