Nonlinear dynamical analysis of speech
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1996This paper reports results of the estimation of dynamical invariants, namely Lyapunov exponents, dimension, and metric entropy for speech signals. Two optimality criteria from dynamical systems literature, namely singular value decomposition method and the redundancy method, are used to reconstruct state space trajectories of speech and make ...

Nonlinear flight dynamics analysis
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 1998This introduction has two aims. First, it begins the issue with an overview of how modern nonlineardynamics analysis techniques may be of benefit to the flight dynamicist.

Nonlinear Dynamics Analysis through Molecular Dynamics Simulations
2004A general goal in multiscale modeling is to analyze macroscale (system-level) phenomena using information on the system at the microscale. In this pedagogical note we revisit the time-stepper approach to performing nonlinear dynamics analysis through the use of a microscopic simulator, molecular dynamics in this case. Using simple illustrative examples

Stereotyped human behavior: A nonlinear dynamical analysis
Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, 1994Some forms of stereotyped human behavior seem to occur randomly in time. A dynamical analysis of several topographies demonstrates that while such stereotypies have the spectral characteristics of random noise, the rate at which each subject exhibits his/her stereotypy is to some extent predictable and, unlike uncorrelated noise, prediction accuracy ...

NONLINEAR DYNAMICS ANALYSIS OF TRAFFIC TIME SERIES
Modern Physics Letters B, 2004Traffic flow shows various complex behaviors. Numerous empirical data and numerical simulation results demonstrate the existence of distinct dynamics states. In order to obtain insight into the nature of the dynamics, we apply the nonlinear time series analysis approach to study the characteristic behavior of traffic flow at low and intermediate ...

Dynamic and Nonlinear Static Analysis
2018Chapter four focused on demonstration the basics of structural dynamic and explain the fundamental process to determine structural seismic response. In order to have a clear comprehending of the highlighted concepts within this book, it is tried to present the application of theories and calculation processes in a real buildings in all sections ...

Nonlinear Dynamical Analysis of Periodic Lateralized Epileptiform Discharges
Clinical Electroencephalography, 1998Nonlinear time series analysis can be used to investigate the dynamics underlying the generation of EEG signal. In the present study we used this approach to study the pathophysiology of PLEDs. We calculated the correlation dimension D2 of an EEG with typical PLEDs, and compared the results with those obtained for surrogate data.

Nonlinear Analysis of Intervertebral Disk Under Dynamic Load
Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1990This study pertains to the response of intervertebral joint under dynamic axial load. The numerical model represents two vertebral bodies with an interposed disk and uses three-dimensional elements. A transversely isotropic material law is adopted for cortical bone and an isotropic law for cancellous bone.

Incremental Dynamic Analysis: A Nonlinear Stochastic Dynamics Perspective
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2016AbstractAn efficient stochastic incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) methodology for nonlinear/hysteretic oscillators is developed by resorting to nonlinear stochastic dynamics concepts and tools such as stochastic averaging and statistical linearization.

Nonlinear dynamic analysis of curved beams
Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 1980Abstract A computational procedure is presented for predicting the dynamic response of curved beams with geometric nonlinearities. A mixed formulation is used with the fundamental unknowns consisting of stress resultants, generalized displacements and velocity components.
