Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Energy harvesting from the nonlinear oscillations of magnetic levitation [PDF]
This paper investigates the design and analysis of a novel energy harvesting device that uses magnetic levitation to produce an oscillator with a tunable resonance. The governing equations for the mechanical and electrical domains are derived to show the

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Three-Point Boundary Value Problems for the Langevin Equation with the Hilfer Fractional Derivative
We discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the Langevin fractional differential equation and its inclusion counterpart involving the Hilfer fractional derivatives, supplemented with three-point boundary conditions by means of standard tools

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Nonlinear Analysis of the Dynamics of DNA Breathing [PDF]
The base pairs that encode the genetic information in DNA show large amplitude localized excitations called DNA breathing. We discuss the experimental observations of this phenomenon and its theoretical analysis. Starting from a model introduced to study the thermal denaturation of DNA, we show that it can qualitatively describe DNA breathing but is ...
