An Adaptive Human Pilot Model With Reaction Time Delay for Enhanced Adaptive Control in Piloted Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This work introduces an adaptive human pilot model that captures pilot time‐delay effects in adaptive control systems. The model enables the prediction of pilot–controller interactions, facilitating safer integration and improved design of adaptive controllers for piloted applications.

Fractional-order chaotic system with hyperbolic function

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
In this article, we study bistability, multiscroll, and symmetric properties of fractional-order chaotic system with cubic nonlinearity. The system is configured with hyperbolic function consisting of a parameter “ g .” By varying the parameter “ g ...

A Consistent Nonparametric Test for Granger Non-Causality Based on the Transfer Entropy

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
To date, testing for Granger non-causality using kernel density-based nonparametric estimates of the transfer entropy has been hindered by the intractability of the asymptotic distribution of the estimators. We overcome this by shifting from the transfer

Parameter Analysis of an Intershaft Dual-Rotor with the Application of Squeeze Film Dampers

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
The squeeze film damper is usually adopted in the rotor system to suppress the vibrating motion of the rotor system. In this work, not only are the physical parameters of the squeeze film damper analyzed but also the system parameters, like the number of

Unusual synchronization phenomena during electrodissolution of silicon: the role of nonlinear global coupling

open access: yes, 2014
The photoelectrodissolution of n-type silicon constitutes a convenient model system to study the nonlinear dynamics of oscillatory media. On the silicon surface, a silicon oxide layer forms.

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Absence Seizure Control by a Brain Computer Interface

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
The ultimate goal of epileptology is the complete abolishment of epileptic seizures. This might be achieved by a system that predicts seizure onset combined with a system that interferes with the process that leads to the onset of a seizure.

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

A new method to reduce the number of time delays in a network

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Time delays may cause dramatic changes to the dynamics of interacting oscillators. Coupled networks of interacting dynamical systems can have unexpected behaviours when the signal between the vertices are time delayed.
