Energy harvesting using semi-active nonlinear control

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents the application of semi-active control for power harvesting using an electromechanical energy harvester. Two semi-active control strategies are proposed in the form of a time-periodic damper and a nonlinear cubic damper.

Nonlinearity Effects

open access: yes
Abstract Nonlinearity is ubiquitous in the relationship between production data and reservoir properties. In most cases, it makes the posterior pdf for inverse problems non-Gaussian, so data assimilation methods that work for linear problems may not be suitable. As discussed in the previous chapters, we can classify the ensemble-based

Enhanced Terahertz Thermoelectricity Via Engineered Van Hove Singularities and Nernst Effect in Moiré Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Moiré band engineering in graphene/hexagonal boron nitride–based superlattices unlocks van Hove singularities (VHSs) for terahertz (THz) optoelectronics. Tuning the Fermi level near these singularities, associated with secondary neutrality points (SNPs), enhances the photothermoelectric response.

Nonlinear Valley Hall Effect

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters
The valley Hall effect arises from valley contrasting Berry curvature and requires inversion symmetry breaking. Here, we propose a nonlinear mechanism to generate a valley Hall current in systems with both inversion and time-reversal symmetry, where the linear and second-order charge Hall currents vanish along with the linear valley Hall current.

Self‐Sintering Ionogel Binder for Flexible, Recyclable, and Healable Printed Giant Magnetoresistive Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

Speckle‐Engineered Upconversion Amplification in Nanoemulsion‐Templated Hydrogel Microdomes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoemulsion‐confined PEGDA microdomes generate speckle‐like excitation fields that strongly amplify upconversion luminescence upon dehydration, enabling filter‐free visible readout with reversible on–off switching. DMD‐based lithography yields scalable, shape‐programmable arrays for moisture‐responsive displays and optical encryption.
