Effects of pressure work on natural convection flow around a sphere with radiation heat loss

open access: yes, 2010
The effects of pressure work with radiation heat loss on natural convection flow on a sphere have been investigated in this paper. The governing boundary layer equations are first transformed into a non-dimensional form and the resulting ...

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Linear and nonlinear stability in nuclear reactors with delayed effects

open access: yes, 2013
The research of a nuclear reactor model has been observed, where the system consists of two differential equations with one delay. A linear analysis has been performed, the asymptotic stability model of the area D0 and D2 has been defined, in ...

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Nonlinear Phase Filtering Effects on GNSS Receiver Positioning Accuracy

open access: yes, 2014
This paper demonstrates nonlinear phase filtering effects on GNSS receiver accuracy. Using a nonlinear phase filter in a GNSS receiver can change the pseudorange estimation up to 250 metres which introduces an error in the overall positioning calculation.

Localized Dispersive States in Nonlinear Coupled Mode Equations for Light Propagation in Fiber Bragg Gratings.

open access: yes, 2009
Dispersion effects induce new instabilities and dynamics in the weakly nonlinear description of light propagation in fiber Bragg gratings. A new family of dispersive localized pulses that propagate with the group velocity is numerically found, and its ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for
