Nonlinear terahertz metamaterials via field-enhanced carrier dynamics in GaAs

open access: yes, 2012
We demonstrate nonlinear metamaterial split ring resonators (SRRs) on GaAs at terahertz frequencies. For SRRs on doped GaAs films, incident terahertz radiation with peak fields of ~20 - 160 kV/cm drives intervalley scattering.

A multiscattering series for impedance tomography in layered media [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We introduce an inversion algorithm for tomographic images of layered media. The algorithm is based on a multiscattering series expansion of the Green function that, unlike the Born series, converges unconditionally.

Signature of the electron-electron interaction in the magnetic field dependence of nonlinear I-V characteristics in mesoscopic systems

open access: yes, 2004
We show that the nonlinear I-V characteristics of mesoscopic samples with metallic conductivity should contain parts which are linear in the magnetic field and quadratic in the electric field.

Frequency- and electric-field-dependent conductivity of single-walled carbon nanotube networks of varying density

open access: yes, 2008
We present measurements of the frequency and electric field dependent conductivity of single walled carbon nanotube(SWCNT) networks of various densities.

DC assisted electric field on the improvement of the nonlinear electrical conductivity of SiC/LDPE field grading composites

open access: yesJournal of Physics D: Applied Physics
Nonlinear resistive field grading material presents nonlinear electrical conductivity, and self-homogenizes the electric field distribution. The nonlinear conductivity is closely associated to the filler distribution, which can be modulated by the ...

Role of Solution Conductivity in Reaction Induced Charge Auto-Electrophoresis

open access: yes, 2013
Catalytic bimetallic Janus particles swim by a bipolar electrochemical propulsion mechanism that results from electroosmotic fluid slip around the particle surface.

Numerical simulation of ion dynamics in the magnetotail magnetic turbulence: On collisionless conductivity [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 2000
The ion dynamics in the distant Earth's magnetotail is studied in the case that a cross tail electric field and reconnection parity magnetic turbulence are present in the neutral sheet. A test particle simulation is performed for the ions, and moments of

Empirical Conductivity Equation for the Simulation of the Stationary Space Charge Distribution in Polymeric HVDC Cable Insulations

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
Many processes are involved in the accumulation of space charges within the insulation materials of high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables, e.g., the local electric field, a conductivity gradient inside the insulation, and the injection of charges at ...

Nonlinear Electrical Conductivity Properties of Au Films Prepared by Sputtering [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nanomaterials, 2014
Metal‐based films with tunable electrical conductivity have played an important role in developing new types of electric devices for future application. In this work, a sputtering method was used to obtain Au films on silicon substrate in a hypobaric atmosphere.
