Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis
2021Safety assessment of structures can not be purely code based and certainly not based on linear elastic analyses. Hence, this chapter will cover key aspects of non-linear finite element analysis.

Nonlinear finite element analysis of an autofrettage process
Computers & Structures, 1983Abstract Generally metal forming processes are nonlinear problems. A method is presented to calculate stress and deformation time history and residual states of a mechanically autofrettaged thick walled cylinder. The finite-element-model and the results of the nonlinear analysis are demonstrated.

Nonlinear Settlement Analysis by Finite Element
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1975A nonlinear constitutive equation for soil is used in conjunction with the finite element method to compute the settlement of oil storage tanks supported on clay. The nonlinearity is achieved by assigning bulk and shear moduli to each element, consistent with the soil type and the prevailing state of stress. Solutions for the bulk modulus were obtained

Finite Element Analysis of Nonlinear Structures
Journal of the Structural Division, 1968The principle of virtual work is employed to derive general relations governing geometrically nonlinear structural behavior. From these basic relations, three general finite-element analysis models, namely, potential energy, direct and incremental, are formulated for nonlinear pre- and post-buckling analyses.
