A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Dynamics of Internal Tides Over a Shallow Ridge Investigated With a High‐Resolution Downscaling Regional Ocean Model

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2018
This study investigates the dynamics of tidally induced internal waves over a shallow ridge, the Izu‐Ogasawara Ridge off the Japanese mainland, using a downscaled high‐resolution regional ocean numerical model.

Analysis of Complex Typography Modulating on Internal Wave's Generation and Propagation [PDF]

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2018
We use a non-hydrostatic numerical simulation based on incompressible Navier-Stokes equations to model the generation and evolution of nonlinear internal waves formed as a result of the interaction with double-ridge topography.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

From Luzon Strait to Dongsha Plateau: Stages in the Life of an Internal Wave [PDF]

open access: yesOceanography, 2011
Tidal currents in Luzon Strait south of Taiwan generate some of the largest internal waves anywhere in the ocean. Recent collaborative efforts between oceanographers from the United States and Taiwan explored the generation, evolution, and ...

From Shear to Sound: Mechanics–Acoustics Mapping of TPMS Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) lattices are mapped across mechanical and acoustic performance, revealing that descriptors validated in compression fail under shear. First‐time comparison with trusses included. A transition from porous to resonance‐driven absorption emerges at 25% density.

Internal gravity waves: Analysis using the periodic, inverse scattering transform [PDF]

open access: yesNonlinear Processes in Geophysics, 1999
The discrete periodic inverse scattering transform (DPIST) has been shown to provide the salient features of nonlinear Fourier analysis for surface shallow water waves whose dynamics are governed by the Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation - (1) linear ...

Lie Group Analysis of a Nonlinear Coupled System of Korteweg-de Vries Equations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Mathematical Analysis, 2021
In this paper, we consider coupled Korteweg-de Vries equations that model the propagation of shallow water waves, ion-acoustic waves in plasmas, solitons, and nonlinear perturbations along internal surfaces between layers of different densities in ...

Sound Field Fluctuations in Shallow Water in the Presence of Moving Nonlinear Internal Waves

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Fluctuations of sound intensity in the presence of moving nonlinear internal waves (NIWs) are studied. Prior works revealed the existence of peaks in the spectrum of these fluctuations due to mode coupling.
