Intermediate Models in Nonlinear Optics [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2005
This paper deals with models for the simulation of the propagation of laser pulses in a nonlinear medium. The new model turns out to be exact in linear cases, but take into account the nonlinear effects; some numerical results are presented to illustrate the error bounds and to investigate the numerical effectivity of the model.

Nonlinear Observer Design for a Nonlinear Cable/String FEM Model using Contraction Theory [PDF]

open access: yesModeling, Identification and Control, 2004
Contraction theory is a recently developed nonlinear analysis tool which may be useful for solving a variety of nonlinear control problems. In this paper, using Contraction theory, a nonlinear observer is designed for a general nonlinear cable/ string ...

Money and inflation in a nonlinear model [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics and Computers in Simulation, 2008
A nonlinear model of inflation and growth, with a fixed rate of money growth, is developed and its global dynamics analysed. These are compared with the local, linearised dynamics of the model. It is shown that the global dynamics of the model plausibly predict hyperinflationary bubbles, which are not present in the linearised version.

Estimation of growth parameters in Brahman cattle from Mexico

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics, 2023
The objectives were to evaluate non-linear models (NLM) to define the growth curve of Brahman cattle in Mexico. The database was derived from weight development control, with live weight measurements (150,932 in females and 286,804 in males) taken in the

Nonlinear unmixing of hyperspectral images: Models and algorithms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When considering the problem of unmixing hyperspectral images, most of the literature in the geoscience and image processing areas relies on the widely used linear mixing model (LMM).

Families of Rational and Semirational Solutions of the Partial Reverse Space-Time Nonlocal Mel′nikov Equation

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
Exact periodic and localized solutions of a nonlocal Mel′nikov equation are derived by the Hirota bilinear method. Many conventional nonlocal operators involve integration over a spatial or temporal domain.

Evaluating Cardinal temperature for seed germination rate of Salvia spp [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و فناوری بذر ایران, 2014
Evaluating of an appropriate model is critical for quantifying the response of germination rate to temperature and determination of cardinal temperatures.

Bayesian modeling of herbicide dose-response curves with maximum entropy priors [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural
: Several factors influence the agricultural sector, and weed interference is one of the most damaging factors in crop development and productivity. One of the most common strategies for controlling weeds is the use of herbicides, the efficiency of which

Qualitative response models: A survey of methodology and illustrative applications [PDF]

open access: yesEkonomski Anali, 2007
This paper introduces econometric modeling with discrete (categorical) dependent variables. Such models, commonly referred to as qualitative response (QR) models, have become a standard tool of microeconometric analysis.
