The Painlevé Approach to Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations [PDF]
The ``Painlevé analysis'' is quite often perceived as a collection of tricks reserved to experts. The aim of this course is to demonstrate the contrary and to unveil the simplicity and the beauty of a subject which is in fact the theory of the (explicit) integration of nonlinear differential equations.

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

On Nonlinear Dynamics of the STAT5a Signaling Protein
In this paper we model the dynamics of the cross talk between MEK/ERK and JAK/STAT signaling pathways by means of nonlinear ordinary differential equations.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

The Extended Trial Equation Method for Some Time Fractional Differential Equations
Nonlinear fractional partial differential equations have been solved with the help of the extended trial equation method. Based on the fractional derivative in the sense of modified Riemann-Liouville derivative and traveling wave transformation, the ...

Digital Cognitive Phenotyping for Differential Diagnosis and Monitoring in Neurological Conditions
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the utility, accessibility, and equivalence to supervised scales of online cognitive assessment in older individuals with cognitive impairment. Methods Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 31), idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, n = 26), and traumatic brain injury (TBI, n = 23) completed online cognitive ...

Adapting the range of validity for the Carleman linearization [PDF]
In this contribution, the limitations of the Carleman linearization approach are presented and discussed. The Carleman linearization transforms an ordinary nonlinear differential equation into an infinite system of linear differential equations. In order

Gravity‐Dependent Modulation of Downbeat Nystagmus: Insights From Velocity‐Storage Dysfunction
ABSTRACT Objective Downbeat nystagmus varies with head position, a phenomenon termed gravity‐dependent modulation. We aimed to clarify its mechanism using a velocity‐storage model. Methods In 10 patients with downbeat nystagmus due to cerebellar disorders, we recorded eye movements at different pitch‐ and roll‐axis head positions.
