Thermometric Based‐Microswimmers with Chemical and Optical Engines

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Temperature sensing at small scales is typically performed using passive luminescent particles. Here, an alternative approach is demonstrated by integrating upconversion thermometry into self‐propelled microswimmers powered by chemical fuels or light. This strategy offers a step toward dynamic thermal sensing at the microscale, relevant to both lab‐on ...

Doubly Nonlinear Parabolic Equation with Nonlinear Boundary Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2001
A necessary and sufficient condition for global existence of all positive classical solutions is given. The proof relies on the construction of suitable upper and lower solutions.

One‐Shot Multimaterial 3D Printing of a Flexible Spine for a Robotic Fish Prototype

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A one‐shot multimaterial 3D printing approach enables a monolithic soft robotic fish integrating a compliant spine and rigid vertebrae. Electromagnetic linear actuators drive tendon‐based transmission, producing controlled tail oscillations. Finite element modeling and experiments show strong agreement, while optimized material selection improves ...

Nonlinear multidimensional parabolic-hyperbolic equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
This paper deals with the coupling of a quasilinear parabolic problem with a first order hyperbolic one in a multidimensional bounded domain $Omega$. In a region $Omega_{p}$ a diffusion-advection-reaction type equation is set while in the complementary ...

Modeling Heavy Metal Sorption and Interaction in a Multispecies Biofilm

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
A mathematical model able to simulate the physical, chemical and biological interactions prevailing in multispecies biofilms in the presence of a toxic heavy metal is presented.

Optimal control of stochastic partial differential equations in Banach spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this thesis we study optimal control problems in Banach spaces for stochastic partial differential equations. We investigate two different approaches.

Smoothing for Nonlinear Parabolic Equations with Nonlinear Boundary Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1997
The authors are concerned with smoothing effects for a class of nonlinear partial differential equations of parabolic type. They extend some known properties of the solution in the linear case, to their nonlinear case. Such properties are: \(u_t(\cdot, t)\to 0\) as \(t\to \infty\) in the \(L^2\)-norm, and \(u(\cdot,t)\) is bounded on \((0,\infty ...

Spin Dynamics of Excitons and Carriers in Mixed‐Cation MAxFA1–xPbI3 Perovskite Crystals: Alloy Fluctuations Probed by Optical Orientation

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
The impact of alloy fluctuations on the spin dynamics of mixed‐cation MAxFA1‐xPbI3 perovskite single crystals is studied experimentally by means of polarized time‐resolved photoluminescence. The high optical orientation degree, reaching 80% for x = 0.1 and 0.8, displays a minimum of 60% for x = 0.4.

A parabolic-hyperbolic free boundary problem modeling tumor growth with drug application

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2010
In this article, we study a free boundary problem modeling the growth of tumors with drug application. The model consists of two nonlinear second-order parabolic equations describing the diffusion of nutrient and drug concentration, and three ...
