Parametrically Excited Nonlinear Vibrations, Onset of Chaos

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1991

Study of parametric excitation of nonlinear vibrations in strings

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006
The vibration of a string apparatus can easily be modified to demonstrate and study the parametric excitation of nonlinear acoustic vibrations. As faculty at Brown University were pioneers in both the study of nonlinear acoustic phenomena and introducing clever teaching apparatus to illustrate the principles of this science, it seems fitting to present

Nonlinear and Parametric Vibrations in Ultrasonic Cutting Systems

Materials Science Forum, 2003
Previous research has shown that multimodal interactions typical of autoparametric systems can be analytically modelled in simple structures. In this paper the vibration behaviour of two complex ultrasonic cutting systems is experimentally characterised.

Control of Nonlinear Parametrically Excited Beam Vibrations

Volume 3A: 15th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise — Vibration of Nonlinear, Random, and Time-Varying Systems, 1995
Abstract A straight composite beam under the action of a harmonic axial support motion is considered. Piezoelectric layers are used to control the parametrically excited vibrations. A nonlinear initial-boundary-value problem for the deflection is derived, which is approximated by a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations.

Optimal Parametric Control of Nonlinear Random Vibrating Systems

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 2020
Abstract Due to the great progresses in the fields of smart structures, especially smart soft materials and structures, the parametric control of nonlinear systems attracts extensive attentions in scientific and industrial communities. This paper devotes to the derivation of the optimal parametric control strategy for nonlinear random ...

Nonlinear Vibration of Parametrically Excited, Viscoelastic, Axially Moving Strings

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 2005
The dynamic response of parametrically excited, axially moving viscoelastic belts is investigated in this paper. Results are compared to previous work in which the partial, not material, time derivative was used in the viscoelastic constitutive relation.

Asynchronous parametric suppression of resonance vibrations of hyghly nonlinear systems

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1991
Summary: Oscillations of appreciably nonlinear systems under simultaneous effect of the unbasic force and additional parameter excitation with nonmultiple frequencies are considered. It is shown that the use of additional parametric effect permits performing both narrow-band and broad-band suppression of the system resonance oscillations generated by ...

Essentially nonlinear vibration absorber in a parametrically excited system

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2008
AbstractDynamics and performance of a strongly nonlinear attachment in a parametrically excited system are examined. Dynamic behavior of the system is analyzed and the conditions for the various regimes of oscillation are revealed. Addition of the essentially nonlinear attachment to linear parametrically excited system brings about a family of ...
