Femtosecond carrier dynamics and saturable absorption in graphene suspensions

open access: yes, 2009
Nonlinear optical properties and carrier relaxation dynamics in graphene, suspended in three different solvents, are investigated using femtosecond (80 fs pulses) Z-scan and degenerate pumpprobe spectroscopy at 790 nm.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

3D‐Printed Sulfur‐Derived Polymers With Controlled Architectures for Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rheology‐guided formulation design for direct ink writing enables the fabrication of 3D sulfur copolymer cathodes with controlled architectures for lithium‐sulfur batteries. The printed electrodes exhibit multiscale porosity and high sulfur utilization, delivering enhanced electrochemical performance compared to conventional cast electrodes.

Tunable Plasmonic and Hyperbolic Metamaterials Based on Enhanced Nonlinear Response

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2014
We present here tunable and reconfigurable designs of linear and nonlinear plasmonic and hyperbolic metamaterials. Rich scattering features of multilayered composite nanoparticles are demonstrated, which include complex and exotic scattering signatures ...

Nonlinear Incoherent Light Scattering

open access: yesZeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 1967
Classical equations are used to calculate nonlinear incoherent light scattered from two coherent beams of electromagnetic radiation of different frequencies propagating in a homogeneous plasma without magnetic field. With a suitable choice of the difference frequency, enhanced light scattering occurs near the plasma frequency.

Three‐dimensional Antimony Sulfide Based Flat Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the development of a grayscale electron beam lithography (g‐EBL) method for fabricating antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) nanostructures with customizable 3D profiles. The refractive index of g‐EBL patterned Sb2S3 is determined based on the synergy of genetic algorithm and transfer matrix method.

Mesoscopic light transport in nonlinear disordered media

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Nonlinear disordered media uniquely combine multiple scattering and second-harmonic generation. Here, we investigate the statistical properties of the nonlinear light generated within such media. We report super-Rayleigh statistics of the second-harmonic

Leading nonlinear tidal effects and scattering amplitudes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We present the two-body Hamiltonian and associated eikonal phase, to leading post-Minkowskian order, for infinitely many tidal deformations described by operators with arbitrary powers of the curvature tensor.
