Generalized analytical equations were developed that accurately predict the local pumping characteristics, viscous dissipation, and average shear rates in channels of both conventional and high‐performance single‐screw extruders. Applied within segmented extruder calculations, these models aid in screw design and process troubleshooting without the ...

Exploring strongly coupled land/atmosphere data assimilation for numerical weather prediction
Soil moisture and soil temperature can be analyzed effectively in a numerical weather prediction system by expanding the atmospheric ensemble‐based data assimilation to update the soil states also. The best results were obtained here using a strongly coupled land/atmosphere data assimilation to assimilate the standard atmospheric observations plus ...

Schematic of the computation of the logarithmic score and information gain. In panel (a), ensemble predictions (orange circles), observational reference (red circle), and historical observations (blue circles) are shown. An ensemble prediction probability distribution (orange line) and a climatological probability distribution (blue line) are also ...

Soil Moisture Active Passive soil moisture retrievals are assimilated into a land surface model and the resulting land reanalysis product is used to initialise the land component of coupled land‐atmosphere experiments. We show that the local impact of land data assimilation on the atmosphere is influenced by two factors: the magnitude by which it ...

Ensemble Kalman filter in latent space using a variational autoencoder pair
The use of the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) in strongly nonlinear or constrained atmospheric, oceanographic, or sea‐ice models can be challenging. Applying the EnKF in the latent space of a variational autoencoder (VAE) ensures that the ensemble members satisfy the balances and constraints present in the model.

Event‐Triggered Saturating Control for Synchronization of Lur'e Type Complex Dynamic Networks
ABSTRACT This article addresses the problem of synchronizing discrete‐time Lur'e type complex dynamic networks (CDNs) via dynamic event‐triggered control. In particular, it is considered that the control signal of each node is subject to input saturation. Using the Lyapunov Stability Theory, properties of slope‐restricted nonlinearities, and the linear

Abstract Policy design has two analytical domains, policy design‐as‐formulation and policy design‐as‐content. The latter study policies as codified and constructed output of the formulation process, which is an activity directed to the process. The analytical concept ‘structural logic’ emerged as an internal property of policy text and has been ...
