NONLINEAR TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS OF A REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE
2021Earthquakes are one of the greatest natural hazards, which are subject of human research. Bulgaria is a region with medium seismicity and possible seismic impact can lead to damage and destruction both in the building stock and in logistics facilities such as bridges, which would lead to large human and economic losses.

Nonlinear time history analysis of a super‐tall building with setbacks in elevation
The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings, 2011SUMMARYStanding 260 m above the ground, the super‐tall building employs steel reinforced concrete frame and reinforced concrete core wall system strengthened by a belt truss story to resist lateral and vertical loads. It has two setbacks in elevation. One is structurally designed by direct termination of vertical members, and the other is realized by ...

Dual versus amplitude scaling in nonlinear time-history analysis.
2014In order to estimate the inelastic seismic response of structures modern design codes such as the ASCE7 or Eurocode 8 allow for the use of a family of scaled natural accelerograms in conjunction with nonlinear time-history analysis. In view of this, a number of selection and scaling criteria have been proposed over the years.

Nonlinear Time History Analysis and Optimal Isolator Design for Earthquake Resistant Structures
11th AIAA/ISSMO Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization Conference, 2006Seismic isolation and energy dissipation systems are innovative strategies for seismic design, and upgrade or retrofit of bridges. In a retrofit design, base isolation devices can be easily incorporated into existing bridges to replace conventional bearings and to improve the overall structural performance. In this paper, an optimal cost base isolation

Nonlinear time history analysis of China Pavilion for Expo 2010 Shanghai China
The Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings, 2013SUMMARYThe peculiar building style and special structural system of the National Hall of China Pavilion for Expo 2010 Shanghai is a long‐span and large cantilevered steel–concrete hybrid structure with a shape of an inverted trapezoid in elevation and local discontinuity of floor slabs in plan for esthetic and functional considerations.

Journal of Constructional Steel Research, 2014
Abstract This paper presents a displacement-based finite element procedure for second-order spread-of-plasticity analysis of plane steel frames with nonlinear beam-to-column connections under dynamic and seismic loadings. A partially strain-hardening elastic–plastic beam-column element, which directly takes into account geometric nonlinearity ...

Optimum load time history for non‐linear analysis using dynamic relaxation
International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1986AbstractA modification of the dynamic relaxation method is proposed which facilitates static analysis of non‐linear problems. Continuous loading in time is adopted instead of the ordinary step function of time. Inertia and damping forces arising during the loading process are kept at a minimum using an optimum load time history.

ESTIMATION OF BEDROCK EARTHQUAKE MOTION BASED ON NONLINEAR TIME HISTORY ANALYSIS
It is necessary to estimate earthquake motion at the bedrock level from ground surface level records observed near the epicenter in order to elucidate the cause of damage to structures after a large-scale earthquake or to evaluate the design earthquake ground motion.openaire +1 more source
