The Taylor Property in Bilinear Models

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2015
The aim of this paper is to discuss the presence of the Taylor property in the class of simple bilinear models. Considering strictly and weakly stationary models, we deduce autocorrelations of the process and of its square and analyze the presence of ...

Robust and Reversible Thermofluorescence in Solvent‐Free Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermofluorescent polymer composites with high‐contrast optical outputs are prepared by solvent‐free blending of indenoquinacridone dye into a thermoplastic polyurethane matrix. The temperature‐dependent fluorescence originates from aggregation–dissociation of the dye molecules, regulated by competing hydrogen bonds from the polymer matrix.

Statistical Learning of the Worst Regional Smog Extremes with Dynamic Conditional Modeling

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
This paper is concerned with the statistical learning of the extreme smog (PM 2.5 ) dynamics of a vast region in China. Differently from classical extreme value modeling approaches, this paper develops a dynamic model of conditional ...

Nonlinear Time Series Modeling: A Unified Perspective, Algorithm, and Application

open access: yes, 2017
A new comprehensive approach to nonlinear time series analysis and modeling is developed in the present paper. We introduce novel data-specific mid-distribution based Legendre Polynomial (LP) like nonlinear transformations of the original time series Y(t)

Viscoelasticity‐Induced Controllable Periodic Meso‐Textures of Liquid Crystal Polymers in Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Viscoelasticity‐driven instabilities are harnessed to create tunable, periodic textures in 3D‐printed liquid crystalline polymers. This study illustrates how processing parameters control these spontaneous meso‐scale patterns. These unique structural architectures unlock new possibilities for functional devices, ranging from photonic components to ...

Adaptive 4D‐Printed Vascular Stents With Low‐Temperature‐Activated and Intelligent Deployment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microarchitected coronary artery stents were fabricated using a polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based shape memory polymer (SMP) composite via projection micro‐stereolithography (PµSL) 4D printing. By incorporating diethyl phthalate (DEP) as a plasticizer, the thermal transition temperature (Ttran) was modulated to about 37°C, enabling rapid and autonomous ...

Nonlinear time series forecasting using MARS

open access: yesDYNA, 2014
One of the most important uses of artificial neural networks is to forecast non-linear time series, although model-building issues, such as input selection, model complexity and parameters estimation, remain without a satisfactory solution. More of research efforts are devoted to solve these issues.

Structure–Transport–Ion Retention Coupling for Enhanced Nonvolatile Artificial Synapses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nitrogen incorporation into the conjugated backbone of donor–acceptor polymers enables efficient charge transfer and deep ion embedding in organic electrochemical synaptic transistors (OESTs). This molecular‐level design enhances non‐volatile synaptic properties, providing a new strategy for developing high‐performance and reliable neuromorphic devices.

Model selection for nonlinear time series [PDF]

open access: yesEmpirical Economics, 2004
We investigate the finite-sample performance of model selection criteria for local linear regression by simulation. Similarly to linear regression, the penalization term depends on the number of parameters of the model. In the context of nonparametric regression, we use a suitable quantity to account for the Equivalent Number of Parameters as ...
