Nonlinear ultrasound scattering by a cloud of microbubbles

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2010
AbstractIn this study, we theoretically analyze the interaction of ultrasound waves in a liquid with suspended gas microbubbles confined in region of the liquid. In ultrasound harmonic imaging, gas microbubbles are used to contrast image by accentuating the generation of backscattered second-harmonic waves.

Reclassifying transcranial pulse stimulation as TNUS: Nonlinear mechanics necessitate departure from the ITRUSST framework

open access: yesBrain Stimulation
Background: Transcranial ultrasound has emerged as a promising non-invasive neuromodulation modality for Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its clinical translation is hindered by inconsistent biophysical classification between quasi-linear low-intensity

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Nonlinear ultrasound wave propagation in thermoviscous fluids

open access: yes, 2004
Traditional ultrasound theory is based on linear theory, however, for strongly focused sound beams, the pressure levels are sufficiently high to generate nonlinear waves.

Mathematical Models for Nonlinear Ultrasound Contrast Imaging with Microbubbles

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics
Ultrasound contrast imaging is a specialized imaging technique that applies microbubble contrast agents to traditional medical sonography, providing real-time visualization of blood flow and vessels. Gas-filled microbubbles are injected into the body, where they undergo compression and rarefaction and interact nonlinearly with the ultrasound waves ...

Effect of Alkyl Chain Length on the Bandgap, Ferroelectric, and Photoelectric Properties of Lead‐Based Molecular Ferroelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel 2D molecular ferroelectric [C6N2H18]PbI4 with polarization enhanced photovoltaics. It systematically investigates the effect of alkylamine spacer cation chain lengths on the band gap, ferroelectric, and photoelectric properties, offering new design strategies.

Enhancing CAR‐T Cell Efficacy in Solid Tumors by Inhibiting CCL5/VEGF‐Mediated Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that CAR‐T cells in solid tumors produce CCL5, which paradoxically induces VEGF and angiogenesis to promote tumor growth. Blocking CCL5/VEGF signaling—through gene knockout, or the CCR5 inhibitor maraviroc—significantly enhances the antitumor efficacy of CAR‑T therapy (the diagram was created in Biorender).

Comparison of theories for acoustic wave propagation in gassy marine sediments

open access: yes, 2014
More than three decades ago, Anderson and Hampton [1, 2] (A&H) presented theories for wave propagation in gassy water, saturated sediments and gassy sediments in their two part review, which has been cited by many researchers in the geoacoustics and ...
