Multi-clustered chimeras in large semiconductor laser arrays with nonlocal interactions

open access: yes, 2017
The dynamics of a large array of coupled semiconductor lasers is studied for a nonlocal coupling scheme. Our focus is on chimera states, a self-organized spatio-temporal pattern of co-existing coherence and incoherence. In laser systems, such states have

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Nonlocal Electrodynamics of Accelerated Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Acceleration-induced nonlocality is discussed and a simple field theory of nonlocal electrodynamics is developed. The theory involves a pair of real parameters that are to be determined from observation. The implications of this theory for the phenomenon

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Hole structures in nonlocally coupled noisy phase oscillators [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2007
We demonstrate that a system of nonlocally coupled noisy phase oscillators can collectively exhibit a hole structure, which manifests itself in the spatial phase distribution of the oscillators. The phase model is described by a nonlinear Fokker-Planck equation, which can be reduced to the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation near the Hopf bifurcation ...

Strain Engineering of Magnetoresistance and Magnetic Anisotropy in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Biaxial compressive strain significantly enhances magnetoresistance and critical saturation fields in thin flakes of the 2D magnet CrSBr, along all three crystallographic axes. First‐principles calculations link these effects to strain‐induced increases in exchange interactions and magnetic anisotropy.

Fused Ring Engineering Induced Topology Control in Covalent Organic Frameworks: Unlocking Promoted Photocatalytic H2O2 Production and Selective Methane Oxidation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
By modulating the topological structures of two N‐heterocycle‐based covalent organic frameworks, Phen‐TTA with a kgd‐v topology exhibits narrower optical bandgap, lower exciton binding energy, and faster charge‐carrier kinetics compared to O‐TTA with an hcb topology.

COFs on MOFs: Layer‐by‐Layer Synthesis of MOF@COF Nanoparticles with Synergistic Adsorption

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A layer‐by‐layer strategy enables the growth of crystalline covalent organic framework (COF) shells on metal–organic framework nanoparticles, creating core–shell structures with tunable porosity. Ordered interstitial mesopores are formed during shell growth, which are connected with the COF's intrinsic micropores, thereby enhancing water sorption. This

Broadband Phonon Resonance Spectrum in Host–Guest Resonator Arrays via Nonlocal Coupling

open access: yesSmall Structures
Resonance mechanisms offer a promising way to control phonon transport at the nanoscale, but realization of broadband phonon resonance remains challenging due to the narrow band nature of individual resonators.
