Direct Photocurrent Detection of Optical Vortex Based on the Orbital Photo Galvanic Effect: Progress, Challenge, and Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Direct orbital angular momentum (OAM) detection through the orbital photogalvanic effect offers a scalable route for integrated optoelectronics. This perspective evaluates symmetry‐driven material selection and demonstrates how electrode matrices enable the resolution of complex, mixed OAM modes.

Ground State Solutions to a Critical Nonlocal Integrodifferential System

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2018
Consider the following nonlocal integrodifferential system: LKu+λ1u+μ1u2⁎-2u+Gu(x,u,v)=0  in  Ω,  LKv+λ2v+μ2v2⁎-2v+Gv(x,u,v)=0  in  Ω,  u=0,  v=0  in  RN∖Ω, where LK is a general nonlocal integrodifferential operator, λ1,λ2,μ1,μ2>0, 2⁎≔2N/N-2s is a ...

Nonlocal nonlinear coupling of kinetic sound waves [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 2014
We study three-wave resonant interactions among kinetic-scale oblique sound waves in the low-frequency range below the ion cyclotron frequency. The nonlinear eigenmode equation is derived in the framework of a two-fluid plasma model.

Phase Structure of a 3D Nonlocal U(1) Gauge Theory: Deconfinement by Gapless Matter Fields

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper, we study a 3D compact U(1) lattice gauge theory with a variety of nonlocal interactions that simulates the effects of gapless/gapful matter fields.

Coupling Local and Nonlocal Models

open access: yes, 2016
In [46], it was shown that elastic PD models converge to corresponding CCM models in the limit of vanishing nonlocality. Moreover, it can be shown that linear PD models exhibit the same material response as corresponding CCM models in problems characterized by smooth deformations (cf. Section 14.3.1).

Wave Propagation in Nonlocally Coupled Oscillators with Noise [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics Supplement, 2003
The onset of undamped wave propagation in noisy self-oscillatory media is identified with a Hopf bifurcation of the corresponding effective dynamical system obtained by properly renormalizing the effects of noise. We illustrate this fact on a dense array of nonlocally coupled phase oscillators for which a mean-field idea works exactly in deriving such ...

Photonic Time Crystals and Time‐Varying Electromagnetic Metamatter: A New Direction for Ultrafast Tunable Photonic and Microwave Materials and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...

Optical absorption in semiconductor quantum dots: Nonlocal effects

open access: yes, 2001
The optical absorption of a single spherical semiconductor quantum dot in an electrical field is studied taking into account the nonlocal coupling between the field of the light and the polarizability of the semiconductor.

Lifshitz Transition in Correlated Topological Semimetals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Theoretical calculations reveal that in YPtBi and GdPtBi, strong electronic correlations shift topological Dirac nodes away from the Fermi level by forming large hole pockets. This effect is sensitive to temperature and arises from interactions among 4d or 4f electrons, offering insights into Fermi surface engineering in quantum materials.

Local versus nonlocal elliptic equations: short-long range field interactions

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2020
In this paper we study a class of one-parameter family of elliptic equations which combines local and nonlocal operators, namely the Laplacian and the fractional Laplacian.
