Rural land rental markets in developing countries: Can survey design innovations improve land market participation statistics?

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract A longstanding puzzle in the African land rental market literature is the often‐observed discrepancy between the number of tenants (renters‐in) and the much smaller number of landlords (renters‐out) in survey data. If this discrepancy derives from systematic biases in survey data responses on rental market participation, then the existing body

Provenance Analysis Based on Cluster In‐Betweenness and Support Vector Machines: Identifying Migrant Candidates Using Multi‐Isotope Fingerprints

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Provenance reconstruction using strontium and lead stable isotopes can produce complex multidimensional fingerprints, challenging traditional methods. Identifying nonlocals, who migrated between sites, is a major task. Migrants are identifiable by divergent multi‐isotope fingerprints due to isotopic mixing between origin and destination sites.

The integrable nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation with oscillatory boundary conditions: Long-time asymptotics

open access: yesPhysica D: Nonlinear Phenomena
We consider the Cauchy problem for the integrable nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger equation \[ \I q_{t}(x,t)+q_{xx}(x,t)+2 q^{2}(x,t)\bar{q}(-x,t)=0, \] subject to the step-like initial data: $q(x,0)\to0$ as $x\to-\infty$ and $q(x,0)\simeq Ae^{2\I Bx}$ as $x\to\infty$, where $A>0$ and $B\in\mathbb{R}$.

Ceramic Production and Geodiversity in Iron Age Iberia: An Archaeometric Study of Pottery from Castrejón de Capote (SW Spain)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The hillfort of Castrejón de Capote is one of the best investigated settlements of Late Iron Age southwest Iberia. Located in the territory that the classical sources attributed to the Celtici, it was occupied between the early 4th and the 1st centuries bce.

Renewed coexistence as a conceptual reframing of animal reintroductions to foster sustainable human–wildlife coexistence

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Wildlife reintroductions are socioecological processes entailing the intentional movement of organisms by people. In animal reintroductions, there is growing recognition of the importance of human dimensions and efforts to integrate these into reintroduction projects. To conceptually reframe reintroductions as processes of renewed coexistence (

A Theory of the Boundaries of Banks With Implications for Financial Integration and Regulation

open access: yesFinancial Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We offer a theory of the “boundary of the firm” that is tailored to banks, recognizing the relevance of deposit financing and interbank lending as a substitute for integration. It is based on a single inefficiency that has been at the core of banking theory: risk‐shifting incentives in the interest of bank shareholders.
