Abstract Digital rock physics (DRP), using high‐resolution 3D microtomographic rock images, is widely employed to predict elastic and transport properties of subsurface formations. Accurate microstructural characterization is often hindered by limited image resolution and overlapping grayscale values of minerals. Consequently, DRP simulations are often

Abstract The ionosphere imposes coupled amplitude, phase, and polarization distortions on trans‐ionospheric Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals, reflecting the structure and dynamics of electron‐density irregularities. Classical weak‐scatter theory provides a mature framework for interpreting amplitude and phase scintillation, but these ...

A Theory of the Boundaries of Banks With Implications for Financial Integration and Regulation
ABSTRACT We offer a theory of the “boundary of the firm” that is tailored to banks, recognizing the relevance of deposit financing and interbank lending as a substitute for integration. It is based on a single inefficiency that has been at the core of banking theory: risk‐shifting incentives in the interest of bank shareholders.

Abstract In this article, we investigate the existence and multiplicity of solutions to the Robin problem −Δu=λf(u)inΩ,∂u∂ν+γu=0on∂Ω,$$\begin{equation*} {\begin{cases} -\Delta u = \lambda f(u) & \text{in } \Omega,\\ \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu } + \gamma u=0 & \text{on } \partial \Omega, \end{cases}} \end{equation*}$$where Ω⊂RN$\Omega \subset ...

Rigidity of balls in the solid mean value property for polyharmonic functions
Abstract We show that balls are the only open bounded domains for which the mean value formula for polyharmonic functions holds. We do so by adapting an argument of Ü. Kuran for harmonic functions. We also, provide a quantitative version of the same result.
