Quantifying Transmembrane Water Exchange by Diffusion NMR Methods: From Yeast Cells to Optic Nerve Ex Vivo

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 3, March 2026.
A comparative analysis of the two most prevalent diffusion NMR methods for exchange measurements, CG‐PFG and FEXSY. Transmembrane water exchange is measured in yeast cells and porcine optic nerves, before and after fixation. Complementary Monte Carlo simulations are conducted.

Market Insurance and Risk Pooling in U.S. Crop Insurance

open access: yesAgricultural Economics, Volume 57, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT A common assumption is that multiple‐peril crop insurance markets suffer from market failures, thus justifying government intervention in the form of premium subsidies, operating allowances, and reinsurance agreements. One prominent rationale for intervention involves geographic correlation in agricultural production which leads to systemic ...

Trade costs, infrastructure, and dynamics in a global economy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Economic Theory, Volume 22, Issue 1, Page 40-62, March 2026.
Abstract This study develops a dynamic two‐country model with trade costs linked to international infrastructure stock. With variable markups and firm heterogeneity, the welfare impact of trade costs depends on firms' cost distribution. Governments engage in a dynamic public investment game, leading to multiple steady states. The dynamic equilibrium of

Phenomenal knowledge and phenomenal causality

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 60, Issue 1, Page 212-232, March 2026.
Abstract There has been extensive debate over whether we can have phenomenal knowledge in the case of epiphenomenalism. This article aims to bring that debate to a close. I first develop a refined causal account of knowledge—one that is modest enough to avoid various putative problems, yet sufficiently robust to undermine the epiphenomenalist position.

Complete Series of 1,2‐Bis(trihalogenosilyl)benzenes (F, Cl, Br, I): A Platform for Cooperating Lewis‐Acidic Sites in Close Quarters

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 652, Issue 2, 5 February 2026.
The complete series of 1,2‐bis(trihalogenosilyl)benzenes with F, Cl, Br, and I is synthesized and structurally characterized. The fluorinated compound binds up to two F− ions, one of them in a bridging mode. BBr3‐induced cyclization of an alkoxylated precursor affords a tetrahalogenated 1,3‐disila‐2‐oxaindane, highlighting cooperative reactivity of ...

Diameter Dependence of Light Absorption in GaAs Nanowires Evidenced by Photoluminescence Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 5, 2 February 2026.
Photoluminescence spectroscopy is introduced as a qualitative method to probe light absorption in highly phase‐pure GaAs nanowire arrays and single nanowires, for which direct absorption measurements are challenging. Using defect‐line saturation and the exciton‐to‐plasma transition as indicators for the density of photogenerated charge carriers, a ...

A Tutorial on Optimal Dynamic Treatment Regimes

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 3-5, February 2026.
ABSTRACT A dynamic treatment regime (DTR) is a sequence of treatment decision rules tailored to an individual's evolving status over time. In precision medicine, much focus has been placed on finding an optimal DTR which, if followed by everyone in the population, would yield the best outcome on average; and extensive investigations have been conducted

Improving Cycle Life and Capacity Retention in PVMPO‖Li Dual‐Ion Lithium‐Organic Batteries Using an EC‐Free and FEC Additive Containing Electrolyte

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 3, 9 February 2026.
The major bottleneck of PVMPO‐based positive electrodes is electrode degradation during extended cycling with EC‐containing electrolytes. This issue is mitigated by using EC‐free electrolytes with FEC additives, which exhibit reduced interfacial resistance, fewer surface cracks, improved capacity retention, and suppressed electrode degradation, thereby

Investigating the Microphysical Characteristics and Environmental Influences of Warm‐Rain Precipitation in Fuzhou Region of China

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Microphysical characteristics of warm‐rain precipitation that occurred in Fuzhou region during warm seasons of 2022 and 2023 have been investigated by using polarimetric radar data. Results of a modified warm‐rain identification algorithm indicate positive ZDR variation in the liquid layer should be added as a criterion to prevent events ...

Properties of ABA+ for Non-Monotonic Reasoning

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate properties of ABA+, a formalism that extends the well studied structured argumentation formalism Assumption-Based Argumentation (ABA) with a preference handling mechanism.
