Sperm Acquisition in Nonobstructive Azoospermia: What Are the Options?
Urologic Clinics of North America, 2008Approximately 10% of male-factor infertility is caused by azoospermia, and nearly two thirds of these patients have nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA). As experience has been gained, increasing numbers of men who have NOA are having sperm retrieved from their testes and used for intracytoplasmic sperm injection with vitro fertilization.

Identification of ferroptotic genes and phenotypes in idiopathic nonobstructive azoospermia
Systems Biology in Reproductive Medicine, 2023Effective treatments for nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA), which affects 1% of all men globally, are limited by undefined pathogenic mechanisms, especially in idiopathic NOA (iNOA). Here, we tried to identify the functional ferroptosis-related genes and phenotypes involved in iNOA.

What Is the Indication of Varicocelectomy in Men with Nonobstructive Azoospermia?
Urology, 2007To investigate the effect of microsurgical varicocelectomy in nonobstructive azoospermic patients. The surgical outcomes were correlated with the histopathologic patterns of testicular specimens.A total of 19 nonobstructive azoospermic men who underwent testicular biopsy and varicocelectomy were included in the study.

STX2is a causative gene for nonobstructive azoospermia
Human Mutation, 2018STX2 encodes a sulfoglycolipid transporter. Although Stx2 nullizygosity is known to cause spermatogenic failure in mice, STX2 mutations have not been identified in humans. Here, we performed STX2 mutation analysis for 131 Japanese men clinically diagnosed with nonobstructive azoospermia.

Management of nonobstructive azoospermia: a committee opinion
Fertility and Sterility, 2018The management of nonobstructive azoospermia in the context of fertility treatment is discussed. This document replaces the ASRM document titled "Evaluation of azoospermia," last published inĀ 2008.

Preliminary investigation of the function of hsa_circ_0049356 in nonobstructive azoospermia patients
Andrologia, 2020Nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA), which is considered the most severe form of male infertility, has placed a heavy burden on families and society. As vital regulators of transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels, Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) are closely related to all the pathophysiological processes involved in infertility in males, especially ...

Nonobstructive Azoospermia: A Revolutionary Surgical Approach and Results
Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, 2009The treatment of nonobstructive azoospermia was developed and has evolved rapidly over the past decade. Extraction of spermatozoa from the limited sites of sperm production in the testes of men with nonobstructive azoospermia has been a primary challenge to the successful treatment of these patients.

Diffusion tensor imaging parameters in testes with nonobstructive azoospermia
Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 2018BackgroundThe development of noninvasive imaging parameters having the capacity to identify the population of men with nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) where a successful sperm retrieval outcome is of great clinical significance.Purpose/HypothesisTo assess differences of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) in NOA testes ...

A rational approach to the management of varicocele-associated nonobstructive azoospermia
Fertility and Sterility, 2011A consensus needs to be reached on a rational approach to infertile men with varicocele-associated nonobstructive azoospermia. Future studies are warranted to understand the mechanism behind the variable influence of varicocele on testicular function, which causes partial or complete damage of spermatogenesis in some cases and leaves it unaltered in ...
