Testing in Nonparametric Accelerated Life Time Models

open access: yesAustrian Journal of Statistics, 2016
A goodness-of-fit test for testing the acceleration function in a nonparametric life time model is proposed. For this aim the limit distribution of an L2-type test statistic is derived.

Use of Wavelet and Bootstrap Methods in Streamflow Prediction

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2023
Streamflow prediction is vital to control the effects of floods and mitigation. Physical prediction model often provides satisfactory results, but these models require massive computational work and hydrogeomorphological variables to develop a prediction

Nonparametric inference via bootstrapping the debiased estimator

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Statistics, 2019
In this paper, we propose to construct confidence bands by bootstrapping the debiased kernel density estimator (for density estimation) and the debiased local polynomial regression estimator (for regression analysis). The idea of using a debiased estimator was recently employed by Calonico et al.

One‐Year Healthcare Utilization and Costs After Emergency Department Encounters for Uncomplicated Appendicitis: A Statewide Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Non‐operative management with antibiotics has emerged as an alternative to appendectomy for uncomplicated appendicitis. This study compared one‐year healthcare costs and utilization outcomes after operative versus non‐operative management of uncomplicated appendicitis using statewide administrative data.

Crop insurance and irrigation behavior: The conditional role of pumping costs

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Excessive water use for irrigation can accelerate the depletion of water resources, undermining agriculture's resilience to weather‐related shocks. Understanding how farmers make water use decisions is essential for developing effective water management policies.

Electrocardiographic and Skin Manifestations of Turner Syndrome: Association With Cardiovascular Disease

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Congenital heart disease (CHD) and dermatologic conditions such as lymphedema and acquired melanocytic nevi (AMN) are common in Turner Syndrome (TS). We hypothesized that abnormalities of cranial neural crest cell derivatives drive the skin and heart manifestations of TS. We conducted joint cardiac and skin examinations of volunteers at a 2023

Perivascular Spaces as Determinants of Amyloid, Tau, and Vascular Biomarker Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐visible enlarged perivascular spaces (PVS) are markers of cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) and aging, processes implicated in both neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular pathologies. However, longitudinal positron emission tomography (PET) studies examining PVS as a mechanism underlying Alzheimer's disease ...

Computed Tomography‐Based Morphometric Analysis Reveals Intercondylar Notch Stenosis and Osteophytes Are Associated With Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To quantitatively assess intercondylar notch morphometrics using 3‐dimensional computed tomography reconstruction, evaluate their association with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in Asian populations, and investigate the prevalence of osteophytes in patients with ACL injury.
